Speedy Delivery (Photo)
Photo from Spain: Speedy Delivery
One of the most amazing things about living in another culture is simply noticing things. The different ways in which people adapt to the environment or the cultural differences between your home country and where you are. When I lived in Spain, the sheer number of mopeds (motos) that were whizzing around was surprising at first. Pretty quickly, though, I realized that they were a necessity on small alleys and winding streets. Spaniards are able to ride these quite young, so even some of my students used them for their commute.
The photo above shows how food (especially pizza) delivery works in southern Spain. I never did get to order a Telepizza, because they were absurdly expensive, but tried several times before this shot to get a delivery in action. Moped delivery allows riders to navigate the twisting alleys, bypass car traffic, and get closer to their customers' doors.

I've always wanted a vespa....I think that would be fun. Nice photo and story. You always tell great little vignettes of your time in Spain.
