Everything Everywhere All At Once:The real multiverse of madness

Although the title is a bit exaggerated, I really think so, since Doctor Strange 2 sold itself as a movie which would be just as its subtitle says "A Multiverse of Madness", however, that multiverse as such, was not seen so much, in Doctor Strange 2 we saw few alternate universes and very little interaction, something that really disappointed me, but I will talk about that movie another time, since the real protagonist of this post is: Everything Everywhere All At Once, a movie that the title "Multiverse of Madness" fits much better and fits it perfectly, since that's really what happens in this movie, a multiversal madness.

I remember reading about this movie a little over a month ago on Twitter, I had read very little about this movie so when I saw it for the first time I only knew that it was about a Chinese woman who travels through the multiverse. So when I started watching it I was surprised to see that it's a movie with a lot of comedy, drama and even sadness. Although it especially has comedy (I personally laughed quite a bit during its two hour plus running time). The story introduces us to Evelyn which is a woman who has with her husband a laundry store, but her life is not the one she would have wanted, since she was very young she left with the one who is now her husband and spends much of her life questioning if she really made the right decision to go with him, plus, because of those doubts she always wants to try something new in her life, like singing or learning martial arts, however, in everything she proposes she always fails.

And it is because she always wants to try something new in her life, learn something or even work on something new and consequently fail in the process, is that because of this her ramifications in the multiverse are greater than those of other people, since she (Evelyn), by failing in her world with her activities, makes her other counterparts in the multiverse if they can achieve what she wanted to do in principle, making her the perfect person to face the villain of this film. A villain who can access all her counterparts in the multiverse whenever she wants at any time, making him an extremely dangerous villain to begin with. And just like the villain of this movie, Evelyn will fight to be able to access in the same way to this multiversal power.

When I finished watching this movie, I looked for some information about it and it turns out that in principle this movie was written for its protagonist to be Jackie Chan and this explains all the moments of action and martial arts that are throughout the film, however, this option was discarded in the end and they changed Jackie Chan for a woman and the story focuses on her and her family. And it's funny because while I was watching the movie and the martial arts scenes were playing, Jackie Chan was the first person that came to my mind when I saw those scenes.

The visual aspect of the film is very good, the scenery, colors and scenery is quite good, as well as the performances, the actors manage to do a great interpretive work both in the moments of comedy, and even in the most dramatic and tense moments. Everything Everywhere All At Once is a film quite free to interpretation, many might consider it as a film that represents the importance of wanting the approval of our parents and how many times we are not able to achieve that, or simply that pressure of wanting to prove something to them is not highly necessary and we must forge our own path. That's why I think they chose a Chinese family, as it is known how strong this culture is about the approval that their children must have before their parents. Other interpretations can be: empathy towards your loved ones and the other people around you. Accepting things as they are and not trying to change them, among other interpretations, it can also simply be interpreted as a comedy movie about time travel, really anything goes.

Everything Everywhere All At Once is an excellent film, quite crazy in many occasions, in which we see a lot of strange, comical and absurd universes.
