Do we create our own reality? What is reality?
I just read a good post from @brothermic called "The existing reality is a creation of your mind" ( https://steemit.com/meditation/@brothermic/the-existing-reality-is-a-creation-of-your-mind ) and although I agree with him with some of the principles he presents, I wanted to comment about creating reality and what is reality.

From the point of view of our own psychology, yes, we do create our own reality with our thoughts and our attitude. But it is not true that reality is created by us, reality is there, either if we exist or we don't.
The human race could cease to exist like dinosaurs ceased to exist and reality will continue. Unless you understand reality as the interpretation we make in our brain of the universe, in which case that kind of "reality" is created by us, but is not really a reality in the first place, but just our interpretation.
So, what is reality? To understand what is around us, we need to conceptualize and simplify reality in our brain. Imagine if we were able to see at the level of molecules or atoms (which in fact are also simplified concepts), our brain will overload and most probably we will go mad. We can see colours and touch objects but in fact we are only detecting with our sensors (eyes) electromagnetic waves in a quite narrow wave length (light) and "touching" is the consequence of the quantum behaviour of the parts of our skin and the object we are touching, in other words, touching is the result of the interaction of the quarks and gluons out of which we are made of with the quarks and gluons that we are "touching", and I suspect that quarks and gluons are also a simplification of something else out of which everything is made of.
In fact, the concept of "matter" is very misleading as it is nothing "solid" but only the result of the interaction of the quantum fields. That is why astronomers are still puzzled with dark matter, because they still have the old concept of matter as an entity that exists on its own, when matter is only the side effect of the quantum fields that construct the universe. Dark matter could just be nothing more than quantum fields that for some reason don't have the usual side effect that we can detect with our senses and current technology which we call matter, but do have other effects like gravity (that is why the concept of dark matter was created to account for the gravitational effects that cannot be accounted for with just "normal" matter)

So in resume, yes, we alone are 100% responsible for everything that happens to us (self-responsibility vs. victimism) our thoughts and attitude has an effect on what we achieve because of psychological and social conditioning. Our thoughts can also modify how we interpret reality in our brain, BUT we do not create reality, which can exist without us, although we are part of it and can modify it with our actions.

Please let me know below your opinions. What do you think reality or dark matter is?
This article took me some time to compose, please support my work by upvoting and following me if you are interested in the theme so I get incentivized to publish more, I also post about health and politics ;)
I think reality is what you make of it. Social aspects can be changed to make whatever reality you want but when emotions get involved it's harder to change to create the reality you want to live. Great post!

Nice commentary.

To think that one actually perpetually creates reality with imagination, will power, and thought is to disconnect the self from truth.
However, there is merit to consider that all of reality may be a reflection; a thought construct in and of itself. That said, the little human ego would not be the originator of said thought construct. :)
