Chrono Trigger: The Black Omen

This episode almost passed the one hour mark and I’m still not at the end of this floating fortress. Even though my characters are overpowered at the moment they still risk getting killed when the encounter enemies that use halving techniques. With just two attacks and you can go from 999 to below 250. The Black Omen is one of those stages that is designed to level you up as much as possible. I finally got Dark Matter for Magus and I’ve been increasing Marle’s speed through the use of capsules.

I’ve never really given it much thought to increase the speed of her or Lucca through most of my playthroughs. Rather than having a completely balanced team I focus on each character’s strengths. For speed boosts I’d give those to Crono and Ayla while magic goes to Marle and Lucca. I want my strongest to have the first strike because sometimes that’ll take out an enemy and magic has always been a back up. Hell, in the game you don’t actually get legit spells until you go to the End of Time. You have various techs but compared to Crono, Marle and Lucca can’t match him offensively. As the game progresses Lucca becomes a magical powerhouse nigh invulnerable to fire and Marle is the party’s strongest healer. Sometimes though cure spells don’t happen as fast as I like so increasing the speed will help, otherwise I just cast Haste.
