French public interest groups launched anti-violence baguette packaging, can self-test domestic violence

in LifeStyle4 years ago

Nous Toutes, a women's advocacy group, distributed 4,000 baguette bags in about 20 bakeries in the GrandPoitiers metropolitan area. One side of the bag is printed with a helpline and the other side is a "violence scale" that measures the presence and extent of violence in family relationships.

If you go to one of the 20 participating bakeries on Saturday morning, you will find freshly baked baguettes in a very different bag than before. One side of the bag has an emergency number printed on it and the other side has a self-administered "violence scale" that can be used to examine the health of family relationships.

Domestic violence is not necessarily physical violence, such as punching, kicking, etc., but also spousal violence, such as making humiliating remarks to a partner, laughing at each other, and interfering with each other's clothing and social life. The "Violence Scale" on the bread bag makes it easy to know the level of violence.

The bag has several phone numbers printed on it, including the general police number "17", a special hotline for women against domestic violence "3919", and a hotline for teenagers against violence "119 ".

The idea for the bags came from the greater Paris region, with Noisy-le-Sec (93) being the first city to launch an anti-violence bag. The "Together" team thought it was an interesting idea and decided to take it to the next level. They launched a fundraising campaign and raised €32,000 in private donations to print 615,000 bags and distribute them throughout France. Some bakeries volunteered to use the bags, and in the small town of Mignaloux-Beauvoir in southwestern France, they have also been in use since Saturday morning.

It has to be admitted that domestic violence is not an uncommon behavior, it exists all around us. Each of us knows some victims of domestic violence who have experienced it at some point in their lives, either verbally or physically. Domestic violence has a great impact on a person's private life and work, and many victims become withdrawn, silent and afraid to interact with others.

In France, 225,000 women are victims of violence each year. During the second closure of the city, there was a 60% increase in reported cases of domestic violence.

It seems like a great way to spread awareness and help victims report domestic violence cases.

Hey, thanks for sharing this! I think this idea is genius, especially since many French families buy baguettes in the morning for breakfast. It's an easy and subtle way to spread awareness and provide resources to those in need. I really hope this campaign was successful in reaching those who may be experiencing domestic violence.
By the way, I recently discovered shrinkwrapping machines, and I've been thinking about how to make them more helpful for society. Maybe there could be a way to use them to package and distribute resources for those in need, similar to this anti-violence baguette packaging. It's always great to see innovative ideas that can help make a positive impact.
