Easy Way to Make Edible Cannabis Oil - The Safe Home Recipe & Guide
Edible Cannabis Oil - The Safe, Easy Way
In light of my last post, I figured this time I'd post a safe & easy way to make an edible cannabis oil at home.
If you're reading this, then chances are you know the benefits of cannabis oil.
If not, here are some good sources:
https://draxe.com/cannabis-oil/
https://healthyfocus.org/proven-benefits-cannabis-oil/
https://healthyhempoil.com/cannabis-oil-pills/
I'm not going to get too detailed for that on this post.
Though I will most likely make a detailed post about all the benefits in the near future.
This recipe makes an edible cannabis oil.
So to start off, here's what you'll need:
- Bowl x 2
- Metal Pot or Metal Bowl x 1
- Strainer x 1
- Oven
- Timer
- Coconut Oil 1L (I use unrefined cold-pressed, but any type will work)
- Dried Cannabis 1 - 2 oz (Trim works good as well!)
- Jar or Container (For the finished product)
- Neoprene Gloves (Optional)
- Parchment Paper (Optional)
I like to line all my work surfaces with parchment paper.
Though this is completely optional.
This is also the time to put on some neoprene gloves if you'd like.
Step 1: Prepare the Coconut Oil.
Put one litre of coconut oil into a bowl.
If it's unrefined cold-pressed, you may have to melt it down to a fully liquid state.
Don't get it too hot yet though. It will melt quick enough at °95 F - °120F.
The coconut oil needs to be in a liquid state to extract cannabinoids.
Step 2: Prepare the Cannabis.
Fill the other bowl with dried cannabis. Fill it 1/2 to 2/3.
Breaking the cannabis down finer is optional for this process, as it will be soaking.
Though, once broken down, the cannabis becomes easier to recover more coconut oil at the end.
Try to fill about 1/2 to 2/3 as much cannabis as you have coconut oil in the other bowl.
Step 3: Mixing.
Pour the bowl of coconut oil into the ground cannabis and stir gently.
Keep stirring until everything is full saturated.
Here, you can see why it is not good to match the amount of coconut oil to cannabis.
If you have the same ratio of coconut oil to cannabis, the plant soaks all of it up.
This makes things difficult when trying to recover the coconut oil.
Step 4: Decarboxylation
Pre-heat the oven to °240 F
In this step you may want to pour the contents of the bowl into a metal pot.
Once the oven reaches temperature, place the bowl or pot inside the oven.
Set a timer for 60 minutes.
Important Note!: Be VERY careful if you did not switch to a pot.
Humans begin to feel a burning pain when skin temperature rises to °111 F,
with first-degree burns developing at °118 F.
Step 5: Straining
Using care and oven mitts, you've removed the hot bowl or pot from the oven.
Let it cool for 15 - 20 minutes, or until you can't feel any heat radiating from the top.
Now, pour it through a strainer into another bowl.
This part is crucial to recovering as much oil as possible.
Once the strainer has stopped flowing, press on it firmly.
This will recover most of the remaining oil saturated in the plant.
Step 6: Repeat Steps 2 - 5 (OPTIONAL)
If you noticed, in the pictured manifesto, there was two bowls of cannabis.
This is because, I like to increase the potency by doing the process again.
Only this time we're not starting with fresh coconut oil.
This time we use the infused coconut oil to start.
Though this can only be done once or twice. As the coconut oil will stop emulsifying the cannabinoids once it becomes over saturated.
Step 7: Pour it into jars or containers.
Congratulations - You're finished!
Now you can make your own medicine at home, and show your friends and loved ones as well. Enjoy!
I had no idea it was that easy! upvoted and resteemed
Thanks! Appreciate it :)
Nice.
Im from British Columbia Canada! Lol! Great step by step tutorial! Wow! It looks much easier then I thought! Now i need to read up on the benifits of this oil! I guess you can get 2 different kinds of potency, by straining once or twice?! Thanks for shareing! Upvoted and resteemed! ♨👌♨
Well, if you need some free samples shoot an email to phoenixtearsfree@gmail.com
Just kidding! Lol! Question: does it need to be put through say a coffee filter after its been strained? For the final stage ? And can the leftover weed thats soaked be used for anything at all, or is all the "good "stuff gone out of it now! Lol! Thanks ! I also just read up on it from your first source! It was very informative thanks for providing the link! ♨👌♨
You don't need to put it through a coffee filter, but if you can find a fine mesh screen like a sifter, that would be perfect. I forget that strainers can often be big and course.
And yes, you can use the material that's been soaked for baking or other edibles. It will be much more mild, but still effective!
Oh ok! Thats awesome and great to know! Thanks again for all the info! Will continue following! Steem on!♨ 👍♨I actually have some painters straining type bags that i use for straining fruit to make jelly! You get like 5 in package, its a very fine mesh, that would probably work pretty good liined inside a strainer! Thanks again!
I am surprised at how simple the process is, and i would have never thought about using coconut oil in this way!
