New logo design for open source lichess
Details
Lila (lichess in scala) is a free online chess game server that focuses on realtime games and ease of use.
It has a search engine, computer analysis is distributed with fishing nets, tournaments, simulators, forums, teams, tactical trainers, mobile apps, and joint analysis boards. UI is available in over 80 languages thanks to the community.
Before designing this logo, I am familiar with electronic sites and looking for open source based applications and github checks first.
Next check the github repository manually, whether the app has committed last no more than one year. To fulfill the utopian rule.

Benefits / Improvements
The new icon design will make it more popular and understood / recognizable by app users, so I recommend this icon by using the concept of the form of chess pawn and wifi network, as it concerns the application.
Tools
To design the icon, I use autocad and adobe illustrator applications. why i use autocad application, maybe this is slightly different from other designer. In my opinion, the autocad application is easy to use to find the logo icon pattern shape.
For skin icon process, I use adobe illustrator application which is more familiar among graphic design.
