Home-based Learning Concerns

in #education5 years ago

During the closure of schools, teachers had to teach from home online.

Many parents were concerned about the effectiveness of such home-based learning since it was the first time that home-based learning was carried out with such long duration.

In the past, there was home-based learning for all schools to prepare for emergency like this but it was only about 2 to 4 times per year depending on respective school arrangement.

As a teacher, it was really hard to keep track of all my students’ work especially the home environment tends to make them in the less serious mood.

I have never contacted so many parents daily but I had to contact them due to incomplete work of their children.

As I am teaching 11-year-old kids, many of them are not as self-directed in learning as I would hope for.

Many parents had to guide their kids at home and they may face frustrations especially they are working from home too.

It was a good reflection of how I can make things better when I get back to school after the lockdown.

When I can prepare them for the unexpected non-routine learning, learning will never be compromised regardless of the situation.
