Echelon has been launched

We’ve officially launched the Echelon sidechain, starting at Steem block number 101,246,000.

This is where the idea stops being a promise and becomes something real — a live chain you can explore, test, stress, and build on, exactly as we committed to deliver before stepping away from Steem.

Three public apps are now available:

Explorer: https://meeray.com

Even though the expected funding was removed — forcing us to cut and postpone many features — the essential core is fully operational.
The DEX works end-to-end, from order creation to matching and settlement.
NFT basics (minting, transferring, burning) also run smoothly.

The airdrop has been executed as promised. Everyone can now connect and start using the chain freely.

More than 90% of the work is done. Anyone can run a node using Node.js, Docker, or by compiling it into a standalone executable. The entire codebase is open source and can be forked to complete the unfinished components, including advanced NFT features (auctions, offers, bundles, royalties) and the launchpad tools. The architecture is already in place — it simply needs hands to finish it.

The sidechain is open for 4 months of public exploration. Trade, mint, experiment — see how the system behaves under real usage.

At the end of this period, any STEEM or SBD deposits that have not been withdrawn will be automatically returned to their original accounts. Nothing will be lost or locked.

However, one thing must be absolutely clear:
Trades on the DEX are real.
If you use your STEEM or SBD to buy other tokens, we cannot refund those trades. The market is live — your swaps and purchases are final.

Echelon was built to show what a fast, flexible, modern Steem sidechain can look like. Even unfinished, it points toward the kind of ecosystem Steem could grow into — if builders decide to push it forward.
10M tokens are being locked in the echelon-node1 account, and can be transfered to a treasury account chosen by the community.

First of all, it's great that you launched the project despite the cancellation funding.

I set up a node, but unfortunately config.example.js is missing, now I have no idea how to enter the peers.

And one more thing: to create new tokens, you need to have a certain amount of STEEM, right? If so, how much?

Did you manage to run your node? You must publish your public key using the witness_register contract.

To create tokens you must pay with ECH tokens, no STEEM are required to use the sidechain transactions.

Edit: added some more instructions in the readme, you can find more informations about the fees to create tokens, farms, nfts etc here: https://github.com/FutureShockco/echelon/blob/main/src/config.ts#L25
Those values can be changed with a softfork, using the history records and only requiring a restart (if all witnesses decides to do so).

What about integrate a login using Steem Keychain App so it is possible to use all this stuff from smartphones?

Well we were working on a global united login system that allow steem keys, keychain and steemlogin, you can find it here: https://github.com/FutureShockco/steem-auth-vue (this is the component currently being used on the dex, nft and explorer)
It permit to handle multiple accounts with different login system in a single module. There is also a version for react based apps. Since we won't be continuining it feel free to fork and improve the project by adding your mobile app feature.
Ideally we wanted to provide that cross platform mobile wallet after delivering the sidechain; https://github.com/hightouch67/steem-mobile-wallet
In long term, this project is much more suitable for a steem mobile wallet that handle transactions than any version of keychain. It use react native and expo, meaning it can be deployed easily on appstore and playstore, it is well structured and already contains most of what is needed. Feel free to check it.
