Horror games that are underrated

in INVEN Gaming5 years ago

Video games in the horror genre have had an important relevance for many players around the world, it is a type of game that is not designed for everyone due to the effects they can cause to people, which for some may be unpleasant, but others for some reason enjoy them.

There is a huge amount of videogames of this type, some became outdated over time due to their technical limitations, others were so overwhelmingly successful that they are remembered for multiple generations, but within that catalogue there are some horror games that were underrated, turning them into hidden gems today.

There are several reasons that influence the above, for example, other more relevant video games that dominated the market at the time of their launch. Thanks to those gamers who gave them a chance, these horror games were not forgotten, surviving over the years.

Below, I'll show you a small list of horror games that were once underrated, but are now considered excellent creations that will make you feel the best experiences in the horror genre.

Observer

This video game went unnoticed in 2017, developed by Bloober Team and distributed for different platforms, including PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and PC. As it is programmed under the Unreal Engine 4 engine, it makes its visual aspect very pleasant for the user. It is a title that traps the player in a psycho-terrorist environment in a Cyberpunk era.

The theme of Observer is very interesting, since in it we fight against a digital plague in the year 2084. To achieve this goal we have a weapon called Dream Eater that allows us to hack into people's memories, a task that will not be easy to perform due to the creepy environment which makes anyone who enters their world feel really uncomfortable.

Clock Tower 3

There was a time when Capcom developed a lot of horror games, most of them were released for the PlayStation 2, one that we can mention is Clock Tower 3, released in 2002 and as its name indicates is the third in the Clock Tower saga, but adding a unique and different gameplay from its predecessors.

The constant chases make this video game uncomfortable for many players, due to the terror caused by most of their enemies, who will be tormenting us at all times. It is an excellent challenge for players who love this type of video game full of psychological terror, the bad thing is that to be played they need a PS2 or an emulator, since it was an exclusive for that console.

Silent Hill 4: The Room

Due to the success of the first three installments of the Silent Hill saga this fourth one was a little bit rejected at the time, because it was designed in a different way, changing a little bit the formula of its predecessors, however, it is one of the most original video games that can make you feel uncomfortable due to its images and disturbing monsters.

Certainly it's a bit slow video game that can take a while to catch up with you, however, once you enter the climax and understand everything that's going on, it's inevitable not to play it anymore, but it's a bit uncomfortable because of the multiple scares you'll get thanks to its great psychoterror atmosphere.

These were some horror games which are underrated, I recommend you give them a try if you haven't played any of them. If you know of any other title that fits this list you can indicate it in the comments section and express your opinion about it.
