The Little Mermaid - The hard Games of all time #13 - Retro Review
“The great sea of Steemit is in great danger, the great Ursula with her bots and bead hackers want to destroy the whole platform, stole the sacred trident of the great healer Triton, everything seems to be lost, but a Steemian named Ariel who has a range Sirena decides with her team to recover the trident, the entire sea of Steemit supports her, giving her the necessary strengths and tools to defeat the malignant whale Ursula”
CAPCOM since its inception has always impressed us with its excellent catalog, in the time of 8 bits they developed titles that are totally unforgettable like DuckTales or the fabulous Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, each of their games had an indescribable magic, they did the same with one of the most iconic Disney icons The Little Mermaid.
The Little Mermaid in the late 80s was one of the very successful animated films, let's face it. Who does not like the Little Mermaid? (now I see it with different eyes, do not judge me XD) did not wait long for it to appear in the world of video games, it stood out in a great way in the great Nes with fabulous 8-bit graphics, moving almost all the content of the great movie (with respect to its history), was one of my first games on the console, at first glance the cartridge may seem like a "game for girls" but on the contrary, it is a game of excellent gameplay and design that can enjoy any person, offering a totally guaranteed entertainment.
It is amazing what they managed to do in a game of the year 1991, The Little Mermaid takes advantage of the potential of the Nes, starting with the shape of our main character, his sprites are excellent, to this day I am impressed by this great result for an 8-bit console, but the enemies and creatures of the sea are not far behind, they also have a well done design, it's really a pleasure to play it at all times.
As it is supposed all its levels are "under the sea", the blue color we will see everywhere, however they achieve good tonalities in each of their levels, differentiating them from each other so that they are not repetitive, apart from the mapping used in they are quite good but at the same time simple, the only thing that would be a bit disappointing is how short they can be, but this does not take away important privileges to the game.
We will find at the end of each level a boss, as you can imagine they also have a good design in their sprites, most of them appear in the classic animated film, the one that impressed me most was Ursula, it really looks spectacular on the screen, at first We may not know how to eliminate them but being a little patient you will realize that their patterns are very easy to determine, making them easy until the last of them.
The gameplay deserves a 10, the handling of our sweet character is excellent, responds very well to our actions with the command, the great part of the game will be "under the sea" but sometimes we can go outside where our movements are limited to only give short jumps, our main weapon are some bubbles which we create through the tail, at the beginning we will have a short distance and a limited power, but as we go forward, we will find upgrades that will enhance our shot making it stronger, it is here when we must try not to receive any damage, it automatically weakens our shooting power, although the game does not have an extreme difficulty if we do not have our weapon with all its power it will cost us a lot to be able to pass its levels of simple way
CAPCOM has always been characterized by excellent music through its video games and in this case applies perfectly, The Little Mermaid contains an excellent musical quality, their melodies are ideal for the style of play, some of them taken from the movie animated, they give that touch of entertainment and addiction, you will always end up singing mentally or stuttering some of their melodies at the end of the game, their sounds very well detailed, despite not finding a variety on a large scale are necessary to bring the movements to life and enemies within the game.
The Little Mermaid is one of those games that cheat with their appearances, many people despised him because they thought it was a simple little game of girls and this is not so, it is a very complete game of adventure and action which if we do things wrong can make us spend great moments of difficulty (despite being a fairly easy game), in addition to just having the CAPCOM symbol of yesteryear already speaks for itself, its music is very good, at all times accompany us in our adventure, it is a classic that I will always have a very special affection which made me spend their moments of anger and fun.
