Cooking 1 Bag of Jollof Rice in Nigeria — Easy?

On this Faithful day my friend called me that his boss will love to see me i should hurry and come over. I have always cooked for him in large quantities but i have never seen him before. So it was an opportunity to finally meet him one on one.

One receiving the call to come over i began preparing myself, I headed over to his house, and the first compliment he gave me was, "Is this the beautiful girl that always cooks for us?" I just blushed and smiled within me. He then told me that he would like me to cook 1 bag of rice to be shared for 300 people and that I should prepare a list and go to the market.

I made up a list of ingredients needed to cook 1 bag of rice, which includes.

• 2 baskets of tomatoes
• 1 painter of shombo
• 1 painter of pepper
• 1 painter of onions
• 40 sachets of tomato paste
• 6 kilos of cow meat
• 25 liters of groundnut oil
• Maggi cubes, salt, and seasoning
• 1 bag of rice
• 300 disposable plates
• Firewood.

After making the list, I headed straight to the market for shopping, and I spent almost 500,000, which is about 5000 STEEM.

The next day I called my brother, sister, and friend to come join me in the preparation because I alone cannot single-handedly prepare 1 bag of rice.

• Firstly, we started off by washing the tomatoes, shombo, pepper, and onion and taking them to the mill for grinding.

• Secondly, we set up 3 fireplaces: one to boil the meat, and in the second and third, we put water to boil, which we were going to use to parboil the rice. After that we spiced the meat and then put it on the fire to boil until it became soft enough to fry.

As the meat was frying, the water for the rice boiled, and we then divided the rice into the 2 pots to parboil while we continued frying the meat.

After the rice was parboiled, we brought it down from the fire, and then we started by pouring groundnut oil in the pot and frying the ground tomato mix and pepper shared in the 3 pots for cooking the rice. We fried all the spices and then added salt and seasoning cubes to the fried tomatoes and ensured all the spices, salt, and Maggi were sweet enough. Then we added the rice to the mix and covered it for it to cook.

After a while the rice was ready, and we brought it down from the fire and allowed it to cool a little; then we started packaging it into disposable plates. The jollof rice was meant to be shared in the mosque.

My boss took it upon himself to cook almost every month and share it in the mosque as part of his gift to humanity. Cooking 1 bag of rice for the first time wasn't an easy task, but I delivered an excellent job. And of course i was paid for the job well delivered.
