In the so-called Information Society, all the protagonists that make up the same, we are immersed in a technological world and interconnected before ever imagined or planned. The training for the correct use of the computer tools and the improvement of the systems has led to the optimization of both technical and human resources, at the service of the digital age.
The origin of the concerns that led me to write this article, is summarized in a question: Does Steemit have any impact on your life?
Taking into account Steemit we can analyze some questions regarding its guidelines, structure, and contents.
This means of communication and interaction with monetary incentives, has become very popular in this globalized world, without distinction of age, sex, occupation, religion, race or social class. It is an interesting point, in this case it is anti-discriminatory, anyone who exceeds the age limit pre-established by the company's policies, can open an account and create their profile without any restriction. There comes the questions concerning daily life and its social impact: the history of each Steemit user is exposed. Obviously that will depend on the permissions that the person who creates the profile, the contacts that accept, the configuration of the privacy, but inevitably the information can easily be filtered in the web, be attacked by some cybercriminal, or simply by an innocent action , careless or confident of the user.
The subject of photographs is a separate case: each user decides what to expose in the network and that should be avoided, but the labels of the same, identifying the person with his image, can be used by any friend accepted in the network as such. In this case, the company should design a system that would allow the user to choose which photos or data should be publicly disclosed and which should not, more clearly and efficiently. The so-called "reputation on line", prestige or image established by the web, can be impaired by an inappropriate photograph or exposed out of context. The best resumes in large companies can be rejected by a dubious reputation, or that contradicts the ideals or principles of the same. The Human Resources departments take as a base of investigation of the applicants to evaluate to accede to certain jobs or positions, the intervention of these in the social networks. The personal interview, conducted by a specialist with psychological, pedagogical or sociological knowledge, is replaced in many cases by an analysis of the behavior of the applicant in social networks and their follow-up (for example, in Spain it is analyzed how many friends a person has on Facebook how many it eliminated or incorporated, its preferences, tastes, or the frequency of its intervention in social networks, as if this could define its professional suitability or its psychological profile with accuracy), instead of considering the human factors, of the face direct contact to face in the personal interview, fundamental to collate the data of the curriculum or to find out the capacities, aptitudes, or worries of the future employee.
From the point of view of marketing and social engineering, social networks are the area of exposure and mass knowledge of products, such as customer acquisition. What is in there exists; it is current, innovative, profitable, acceptable, popular. People will want to acquire it, because they knew that product through Facebook, for example; It must be beneficial, many buy it. In terms of political marketing they are very useful: candidates expose their political discourses to the electorate through these mass media, and can even digitally probe the impact of their image on citizenship or its preferences, incorporating electoral observatories on line.
My daily life becomes part of Steemit's world: achievements, failures, joys, sorrows, expectations, fears, everything. That is, without Steemit, there is a lack of protagonism in society, it seems.
The freedom of expression in Steemit, is a controversial point: it is opposed to the rights of privacy, protection of personal data, and intellectual property. I think the solution is to resort to balanced legal and social rules, basically: a right ends where the neighbor begins. The established principles or rules must be respected.
Steemit has great benefits: communicating with distant people, working online, reuniting with loved ones, searching, asking, offering or sharing information in a way previously unthinkable (for example, for solidary or scientific purposes); but these actions must be carried out in a gradual, balanced and reasonable way, without allowing the network or the flow of information to invade our mind, body and soul.
Man is a free being, enjoys his free will in the democratic society, as it is conceived. It must ensure that technology contributes to its development and evolution, and allows it to enjoy more of its free time, to express itself, create and enjoy leisure, to the extent just, and not become a true slave to it. You must use computer tools to improve the quality of life and scientific advances; not to be dominated by them.
