It's the weekend...Or is it?
There's no secret around how much I like my weekends; My love for them transcends most other loves...Even donuts...(Well, sort of donuts...OK, everything but donuts.) I love weekends so much because they open up life, possibilities and opportunities, and I'm not at work...So, what's not to love?
It's Saturday right now...I think. OK, so it is Saturday for sure, but here's the thing...I gotta work. G-dog say what?!
You see, there's this thing called Coronavirus and that's been messing with my work flow this week. I've been working from home but as far as appointments go I've had to make some adjustments. So, today I have an appointment to meet a new client and sign some contracts. It's not the end of the world of course, but I'd rather be doing something else...At the range, sleeping in, messing around in my workshop, hiking...Eating donuts...
As I type this I have the TV on in the background and all I can here is virus stuff. It's not going well seemingly, although I'm fairly prepared, even for a lockdown, and so I'm going to try and keep things fairly normal...Well, Saturday morning appointments are abnormal, an abomination actually, however other than that it's situation normal.
After my appointment I'm catching up with a mate for a coffee..She's been working from home too and is feeling isolated. We were going to go to my gun range but the virus shut it down until the end of May and so a coffee shop it is. Safe social distancing standards will be maintained of course.
Sunday Faith and I will be up early as we're heading to a spot for a few hours of hiking. We have a couple of options, somewhere local called Ansteys Hill, or a little more distant a couple hours away...My vote is for the more remote location...I love the feeling of solitude so would rather see no one.
We would normally go to my dad's nursing home on Sunday as well but it is locked down and we are not permitted there. I called them yesterday to see how he is and he seems ok, although does a lot of sleeping. They have to coax him out of his room which is unusual so hopefully there's nothing overly wrong, other that the normal problems. He is coping with the lockdown well and probably doesn't even realise they're locked down. I guess dementia has its uses.
So, it's the weekend...But has a slightly different feel about it. Sure, it's not quite as bad here in Australia as it is in the UK, EU or USA but I think we'll get there so I figure I'd better make the most of the freedom we have...Probably won't be long before soldiers are walking the streets here like in Italy.
I hope y'all have a great weekend, and stay safe y'all.
