10 Best Protein Powder Pudding Recipes
Many people get derailed on their nutrition program because they can’t resist desserts which are generally high in calories, and provide little nutrition. But not my Protein Pudding! It’s loaded with protein, low in carbohydrates, low in fat and truthfully tastes awesome. I don’t feel deprived at all and it’s guiltless because it actually provides great muscle building nutrition!
Protein Powered Pudding
You’ll need:
2 scoops / 1 serving protein powder; Muscle Milk, Eas, Met-Rx, Muscletech
1 package sugar free/fat free Jell-O pudding instant mix
1 Cup; Skim milk, Almond Milk, Soy Milk, Rice Milk
½ – 1 cup of water
Fat Free Cook Whip, Real Whipped Cream
Low Fat Cinnamon Graham Crackers
In a mixing bowl, combine 1 serving of your favorite protein powder with I package of Jell-O mix. Add water and milk of choice and whisk for 2 minutes.
Put the mix in the fridge and let it set for 5 – 10 minutes.
Scoop out ¼ of the now chilled mix into a bowl, and top with either 1 scoop Cool Whip or real Whipped Cream
Finally, crush 2 rectangles of a graham cracker and sprinkle it over the top for some crunch.
That’s it! You’re done and on your way to a great dessert!
SO HOW HEALTHY IS IT? WELL HERE’S THE STATS:
I used Monster Milk and 1 cup Skim for mine, topped with Cool Whip. Other variations, powders, topping etc. will alter the total calories slightly.
Per ¼ mix serving-
About 210 calories! That’s it!
About 20 grams protein = 80 calories
About 20 grams carbohydrates = 80 calories
3 grams of fat = 30 or less calories
These are approximations as you can use different ingredients. Plus you can add various fruit like strawberries or banana, choose chocolate, vanilla, or fudge flavored Jell-O. I’ve also been known to crush up one chocolate chip cookie as a topping, or use a few chocolate chips.
I’ve also used natural peanut butter in the mix, and various healthy cereal brands as an added crunch. But be careful as some foods are nutrient dense and can take this healthy, low-cal dessert and make it a calorie monster. See my Top 10: Biggest High Calorie Diet Dangers post for a list of other foods to watch your portions with.
It really comes down to taste, and which protein powder you like best. All of the companies I’ve mentioned have delicious, quality protein powders that come in numerous flavors, which also adds to the available options. Another little trick is to use just a bit of the Jell-O powder in your protein shake for some added flavor and to thicken it up.
For those of you that are going to comment that this dessert doesn’t fit in with the mostly all natural, whole food diet that I recommend I say so what? I’ve got to live a little and I’m not eating this everyday. It’s an alternative to all the high fat, high sugar, high calorie crap on the market, and on occasion this is an awesome substitute. In the real world, I have a sweet tooth and this fits the bill and stops me from eating the really bad stuff.
Give it a try and let me know if you like it! Enjoy!
