The Older, The More Alive: Dying Light Celebrating Its 3rd Anniversary With a Bunch of "Awesomeness"
"You come to us, like a snake in the grass. Here, in a city of lies, you are the biggest liar of them all."
-Kadir "Rais" Suleiman (Dying Light)
This February marks the 3rd anniversary of the zombie apocalypse-parkour game Dying Light, one of the best zombie themed game out there. And to celebrate its 3rd anniversary, Techland seems to have everything ready for the party, a bunch of "gifts" for the community including Content Drop #3, a new community event dubbed "Undying Love", weekly giveaway on Gemly, and more throughout February.
While the other developers have their hands busy on their 2018 and 2019 upcoming games, Techland seems to have no other plan but to keep Dying Light alive. Or maybe they just keep it a secret. There are fans who are expecting Dying Light 2 already, but it looks like it won't happen anytime soon as the studio still has a bunch of goodies coming up for the first game.
Last time I saw a "thank you video" from Techland they didn't just say "thank you" in the video, they made something called 10-IN-12. It's a thank you gift for the community in the form of 10 free DLC packs dubbed "Content Drop" that are released in 12 months started from August 2017 featuring new weapons, enemies, locations, weapons, mechanics, story-driven quests, weapons, exclusive content for the most dedicated fans, and more. Also, have I mentioned weapons? Not to mention Bad Blood, the upcoming new "multiplayer title set in Dying Light universe".
And as if those aren't enough, as the developer said in the video they still have lots of "Dying Light awesomeness" for the 2018. I think they are not keeping the game alive, they are making it immortal.
If by knowing all these free goodies from Techland makes you think that the game wasn't a big game, or wasn't a complete product and this is all are just the regular updates like other games have... no. I've spent enough time running around the rooftops like a god damn ninja with my crafted wicked cool blades in hand, while a bunch of terrifying freaks chasing me down from every directions, before all these raining DLCs came out. And I could tell you that Dying Light wasn't a half-baked game.
Is Dying Light a must play? If you ask me, yes it is a must play. It's an open world zombie game that are not only filled with zombies, but also actions, stories, awesomeness, and sarcasm. It's not a perfect game, but it is really great and still growing. And today might be a good day to start your free DLC packs-showered parkour adventure because Dying Light: The Following - Enchanced Edition is 67% off on Steam.
Happy birthday Dying Light and thank you Techland for making this game. And thank you for stopping by, Steemian!
