The Average Follower has 4x more Steem Powered up now then they will in 1 Year (Breakdown inside)

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

There are 1,000,000 registered Steemit accounts.

At the start of 2018, there was about half that. Meaning we have doubled the number of accounts in about the past 5 months.

(credit: https://steemit.com/steem/@penguinpablo/we-have-just-hit-1-000-000-steem-accounts )

Right now there are 270,000,000 Steem circulating, and over the next year about 25,000,000 steem will be created bringing the total to just under 300,000,000 a year from now.

Doing a little math, that roughly gives us an average of 300 Steem per registered account.

(300,000,000 /1,000,000) = 300

Now, not every Steem is powered up in Steemit although these numbers assume that, but this average still gives us a good idea of the value of the average user right now. As time goes on, the average Steem per account will go down drastically!

Let's dive into what I mean.

If we do a conservative estimate, in that the amount of users doubles over the next year(remember accounts have about doubled in the past 5 months), then we will have 2,000,000 registered accounts and still about 300,000,000 Steem, bringing the average of Steem down to 150 per account.

On a more aggressive estimate, one where we double accounts in the next 6 months to 2 million and then double again the 6 months after that to 4 million, then we see the average Steem per account spike down to 75 Steem per account.

Why am I showing you this? To inspire and motivate you!

With the average Steem per user being 300 right now, every follower you get now as opposed to a year from now, will have up to 4x more Steem on average.

Also, 300 million people is not that many people, as America alone easily has more people than that.

I point this out because if Steemit goes mainstream, we will easily exceed 300 million users.

AT WHICH POINT THERE WILL ONLY BE ABOUT 1 STEEM PER USER. The price of Steem at the point will likely be considerably higher(maybe over $100).

This may not seem like a big deal, but if you think about it, since Steemit works on voting power with regard to # of Steem you have powered up, the number of followers you have is important, but so is the total number of Steem those followers have, because that is what powers their votes!

I hope I explained this well, if you have questions please ask!

Thank you for sharing your post. This reminded me of when you shared your vision of the future of Steemit with me which is what brought me here. I look forward to the future where Steemit has 300 million users and $100 price of Steem.

You have a great view of Steemit in both the present and future.

You have a great view of Steemit in both the present and future.

You are very wise and have a great vision for the future.

Interesting analysis - thanks for sharing!

I wonder how much it would change if excluded inactive accounts? I suspect it might make the difference even more pronounced as would expect a higher ratio of active/inactive accounts as the site becomes more popular... but just a guess.

True, but it would also be more likely that the lower amount of steem power in an account the more likely it is to be inactive so that would be a tough calculation.

I just wanted to make a general point that the followers we get now will have substantially more Steem on average compared with ones we get a year from now. This was to inspire people to be even more active as it will be well worth it!

Definitely - I agree just throwing out some random thoughts!

Thats information is good The Average Upvote is Worth 4x more,Thanks for share with us

resteem done

Upvote power has increased drastically! especially after hardfork 17. By the way, I like your GIFs at the bottom of the page, can I use them!?

The GIF is not mine, but if you find out who I can attribute it to, let me know!

But is this not subject to change with the influence of the account based voting system that is about to be implemented?

Can you link me to the changes, I thought it was going to be a very gradual move in that direction.

Im not precisely sure, but this is the link that i must have found

Cheers..

So it looks like they were talking about that being an option for SMT's and then possibly it would be embraced by Steemit.....does not seem definite or something that will happen soon.

Oh okay thank you for clarifying that

Excellent, @gank! Good quantitative analysis to back up the fundamentals which us SERIOUS people here intuit. I am ALL IN on Steemit until it either goes to the moon or goes south (most likely the former). It's been a perpetual effort to build as much SP as possible so that IF your prediction (or something SIMILAR to it) comes to pass, those of us with more than your projected ~ 300 SP will be in a better position to providequality LEADERSHIP to those coming in, and in that way can be on the VANGUARD of unleashing the power of this great platform. To the moon, baby!

As Steem price goes up, the Whales will sell some of their Steem, this is a natural progression. MILLIONS of new Steemit accounts coming in on the horizon.....exciting times!

This is good news means that maybe this will be a good year for Steemit I think this will be tomorrow I have faith in that, for now we must make good quality content that the votes are worth 4 times more
