Don't be a Professor! Be Teachable!
I heard you are a Professor and I was wowed!
Come on, who wouldn't be impressed. Who wouldn't want to associate with a man with so much academic prowess. Who doesn't want to be on the good book of that man who causes the illiterates to hide their faces in shame. The man that speaks with so much wisdom and the floor in which he stand shakes!!!
Your certificates and achievements is enough to fill a room.
You were admirable from a distance and I yearned and still yearn to be a professor. I decided I wanted to be close to you. I put in all the efforts to get noticed by you. I was not interested in your character. To me, your certificates and qualification already did the talking. I practically adored you!
I got the shocker when I came close...
I realized you were not teachable.
I realized only your words were final.
You were so in love with the sound of your own voice.
Everyone else but you rants to you.
To you, you were the only one that speaks sense.
Jeeeezzzzzzzzzz!
I uttered in disgust, how can one human being on earth just think he knows everything. Why can't he try to reason with other people. Why can't he see the other side of things. He takes decisions not because they are best but because he wants it on record that he said a thing and it must be that same way.
Are you not tired of your own voice?
Even when it is obvious to a child that you are spitting trash, you rather keep spitting it.
Be Teachable
Being teachable beings being able to learn by being taught.
Being teachable means being able to summit yourself to some tutelage. This is irrespective of age, degree or qualification. Anyone can get taught by just anybody, if only you are willing to learn.
Dear Prof., It is such an irony that you submitted yourself to so many years of Tutelage and just immediately you became a Prof., you became too big to learn. When instead, you should even be more open to learning.
No disrespect meant Prof., but how about listening to a little corrections here and there. How about heeding to advice from well meaning people. I know academically, many people are no where near you but they could advise you in some aspect of life.
Who Is This Professor?
This Professor is anyone who thinks they are all-knowing.
This Professor is anyone who thinks they are too big to learn.
This Professor could be you.
This Professor could be me.
There is a saying that,
The day you stop learning is the day you start dieing.
Do you want to be a living dead? If your response is No, then be open to learning, be teachable.
If you are not teachable, that thing you find in your hands that looks like it will blossom forever might end up not flourishing anymore because you do not have the current information to feed it.
It could be your relationship!
It could be your marriage!
It could even be your sex life.
Ask the married folks... If you are not teachable, you might not be able to satisfy your spouse. I know this because I see couples in the hospital complain bitterly about this.
You might have been a sex worker before marriage and might have been totally awesome on bed satisfying your former girlfriend but if you are not willing to learn from your new partner you might lose that marriage. If you are not open to learning what exactly turns him/her on, if you are not teachable, you might not be able to satisfy your spouse now.
Being teachable will do you so much good in every aspect of your life. It will help your relationship with people grow. It will help you improve academically, financially, spiritually and otherwise. It will open you to learning new things.
It will help you unlock new doors you never knew existed.
Be open to learning. Be humble! Never look down on anyone. And you will see your life take a different dimension.

Truly, learning is the essence of life and it is a journey that has no end, starting from our first cry till our last breaths.
One who stops learning is merely a walking dead and a talking head simply awaiting his last breath because such a life simply has no essence. Well said ma!
@ajremy (the teen with steam for steem)
Thanks dear
This is really thought provoking @gee1. I detest 'highly' learned individuals who see themselves as wisdom personified.
Please keep preaching the Steemit sermon my steemit evangelist. We will get it right someday.
We have a lot of professors around us. They seem to know everything and never admit to been wrong in any way.
Life is about learning, if anyone decides that they know all, then they can as well conclude that there is nothing more worth living for...
Thanks for sharing @gee1
Preach Lady @gee1
Preach!
We all can be professors at some point in time and we have to be conscious enough to remain teacheable
Thanks for your good work @gee1
Keep soaring high!
Thanks dearie
Very wonderful ideas you have shared... I would love it
Thank you
Word for the wise, good one
Thank you
Knowledge is wide, and we can never acquire all the wisdom of this world, the professor I know everything should really change their ways towards the way to react to people trying to correct them or let them know things they find oblivion....
This is true ma'am. I know alot of people that are smart but cannot be corrected.
Straight A's but no real friends.
We need a reform. Maybe they should include People~skills 101 to the syllabus.
Exactly!
We really need a reform.
