Travel - Blog - Amsterdam - Netherlands #4

Hello my fellow Steemians

We left Germany for a two week's stay in Amsterdam. It was warm and sunny the day we arrived but since then the weather has deteriorated. It got super cold and windy with the occasional shower. We stay in a nice apartment on Herenstraat and it's very central and conveniently placed but still in a quiet lane.

Despite the cold I went sketching a few times and managed to stay dry and we walked so much our feet were hurting.
Therefore we decided to rent the typical Dutch bikes for the rest of the stay. No gears and pedal brake still it makes getting around the city so much easier although traffic is quite chaotic in the small lanes. Cars, scooters, pedestrians and bicycles (called fietse in Dutch) fight about the right of way all the time. Throw in some trams and the occasional huge van and you have Amsterdam's busy streets. A little way out the roads get considerably more quiet and it's a treat to cycle.
We went everywhere!

Tomorrow we are planning on doing a 30km cycle tour that will take us trough several parks and into the outer regions of Amsterdam. We hope to see the true Amsterdam and get away from the streams of tourists.

I will tell you how it goes, let's hope the weather is decent.

Until then

Lots of Love

Geena

Nice, I always love coming (back) to Amsterdam, it's a great city! But Dutch weather can be unpredictable indeed....
