"It was last day of December end semester examinations and we were four people planning to go on a Road trip to Kasol. We were all set to leave for Kasol next morning. Just before going to sleep all of the sudden our plan changed and by 6 am in the morning we were out on the roads leaving for Auli and Valley of Flowers. And here started our unplanned journey in search of the paradise.

Passing by those curved roads, with the Ganges flowing side by, those never ending beautiful mountains and the swift breeze flowing along, it was all majestic.

And by evening we were at Karnaprayag. Karnaprayag is one of the Panch Prayag of Alaknanda River situated at the confluence of the Alaknanda and Pindar River, as Wikipedia might tell us.

We decided to spend our night there and checked in at a Hotel located side by the Pindar River.

We had those mouth watering momos there. We talked to some of the localites about Auli, Joshimath and Valley of Flowers. We had planned to leave for these location the next morning.

We came to know about no snow at Auli from the localites. Also, The Valley of Flowers was closed by Govt. as it was during most times in December. We were disappointed and then someone suggested us to visit Chaukori and Munsiyari.

Frankly, we never had heard about these places before and were completely clueless. After a bit of discussion we decided to go to Munsiyari. It was about 300 kms from Karnaprayag.

The next morning we started to move towards Chaukori. On the way to Chaukori, I clicked these wonderful clouds. Along the roads this view was heavenly. Also this was the time I realized that we forgot the DSLR, back in Doon itself. I was angry for not able to bring it along, nevertheless we managed with a small SLR camera and it became our DSLR for rest of the journey.

We reached Chaukori by 2 or 3 in the noon. And the first view we saw were beautiful mountains covered with snow on the top. We spent our 4 hours there, exploring the small place. It is a village with approx a population of thousand people. No hotels or guest houses. You will find only a Govt. guest house there.
We spent our evening there. There were five ranges visible from the places all around. To its north is Tibet, and to its south is Terai. It was at an elevation of 2000 mtrs. The place was no less than heaven.

We moved towards Munsiyari in the evening."
