This new logo have really strong view from the old logo that existing and have more elegant/modern shape from the old one. Darktable New logo is made more simple but catchy.

I like your documentation and i also like your implementation for the new logo, but i think it's very similar to the Picasa logo as you can see here:
So i would recommend you, think about the name of the tool "Darktable" and think about what that means for a photographer. Maybe you get some fresh new ideas through that process.
