Price Vs mushroom Association

When I see farmers talk about the Mushroom Price, I always take in a deep breathe, pose then out.

Cause am certain that was itching for us to desire to hike the price used for An association to dictate the price.

Just like the way Musicians in Uganda are forcing out their way into Associations, forming U.M.A (Uganda Musicians Association) to fight for their copyright and several issues.

We should borrow that and form the Mushroom Association to solve Mushroom farmer's issues.

Besides the trending issue on fixed Mushroom price.
Look at how cotton Price has exponentially increased in a very short time. From between 25k to 30k in 2019 to between 50k to 65k a bag in 2020 on wards.

Back to the need for an Association everything is increasing in price country wide, those keen with ⛽ petrol stations know that they increase their price uniformly on every station around the country with just maintaining a certain range between the different companies and difference is smears slight.

🥩Again on Meat, As the price for meat goes up, you find that all butcheries have adopted the same price almost the whole district if not country wide.

Now the most Amazing is that price uniformly rises up but never sets back.

But in Mushrooms its where you will find farmers, one selling a KG at 30k and another at 5k in the same area.

🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄

People are buying cotton husks in Tanzanian at just 200/= per KG and proudly selling at 1,300/= okay, plus transport, loading, offloading and packaging but still they sell get it at their premises at half the price they sell.

That's because we can't make up that one association that will deliver us from all those expenses buy getting our own cotton husks cheaply so
Before you think of eliminating middle men in selling Mushrooms, think of eliminating those too.

▪️Again before you CRY of the fixed 5k know that some one has bought 200 bags of cotton husks very cheaply and his so fine with the 5k.

▪️Again before you CRY of 5k know that that person is harvesting 30-50kgs of fresh and receives his 150k - 250k daily respectively, so he's fine with the 5K.

▪️Again before you CRY of the 5k just know that your inconsistent and that person is consistent almost the full year.

That's the reason for the Mushrooms association I advocate for rather than just devising ways of how to hike the Mushrooms price without a strong foundation.

🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄

Ever since I started mushrooms almost every year we have had big orders of above 100kgs of fresh daily or weekly at an amazing price above 10k but because we where few and without an association we couldn't consistently adjust to amount but with that price we shouldn't be here talking about high pricing and bothering Nakasero guys.

Nakasero middle Men

👉They pay cartoon money 5K atmost 6k a kg.

👉They take long to pay.
Actually they first sell and then pay later
If they don't sell then they become Masters of excuses.

👉 They don't provide transport.

Supermarkets suppliers

👉 These give a fair price above Nakasero. sometimes they provide transport at times No.

Yes it's a bit fair but still besides their high quality requirements they can't take in more KGS every day like above 30kgs it a lot for them making them not a suitable market source to rely on.

Those selling there Mushrooms domestically

Well this is the most paying, people are getting 15k to 20k per kg.

However this method is very suitable for small scale farmers, I have been in farms producing above 30 - 50 KGS a day. it is impossible to sell them today and again tomorrow then weeks in the same local area hence Making it again not reliable for large scale farmers.

All in all
I see the issue is not about fighting and struggling for higher prices but rather forming an reliable association.
