Thyme

Thyme's origin is also from Mediterranean sea. It is said that the name of the thyme is coming from the ancient Hellenic word "θυμων"(thymon) which means "brave" . Others say that it is coming from the ancient Hellenic word "Θύω" which means "sacrifice" ,as the herb was used in sacrifices bac then.
Thyme is a small bush and its height comes about to 40cm with its leaves being 4-10mm wide and its flowers 4-7mm. There are about 200 species with the most common the **Thymus Vulgaris" we use for cooking.

can be done twice a year in June and September depending on the region's climate, in order to dry the leaves and flowers for use.

Healing action - Benefits :

-Thyme can be used in gingivitis, dental caries or tartar therapy.
-You can do gargles with its brew for throat pain and severe cough
-It can be used against "kokitis" and "asthma"
-It contains thymole and vorneole which have antimicrobial and antiseptic action
-Drink of it helps in intestinal functions
-Consuming thyme helps against atony and anxiety, mental and physical exhaust, depression and apathy
-It is given to small children to fight bowels worms
-Anticonvulsant and softener of the stomach
-Helps against colitis
-It has good results in laryngitis, pharyngitis and tonsillitis
-Helps against established lung infections.

Side effects:

-It mustn't be used for a very long period
-Pregnant should avoid the essential oil of thyme
-Overdose can cause thyroid gland overactive with vomiting, diarrhea and dizziness.
