G.I.R.L.B.E.F.O.R.E.M.I.R.R.O.R Day 9. (Acrostic.)

in #poetry7 years ago (edited)

Here is my poetry contribution for today.

It is an acrostic poem using my user name.

An acrostic poem is a type of poetry where the first, last or other letters in a line spell out a particular word or phrase. The most common and simple form of an acrostic poem is where the first letters of each line spell out the word or phrase.

I sourced this definition from young writers.

I may not be considered young in too many respects, but as a writer I have realised I am an infant.

It is a site aimed at school aged writers in the UK. Unfortunately I'm neither British or youthful.

That's right, it has been a long time since this self professed girl actually was a girl.

If you are a Brit with keen young writers about, I encourage you to check it out.

There are a number of competitions, as well as easy explanations and activities.

Anyway, back to my acrostic challenge.

I remember halfheartedly doing these at school.

Although it has only been a week, this challenge has already presented me with lessons half learned at school. I lacked the maturity and focus at the time to complete anything at all. Unidentified dyslexia, ADHD and hypermobile hands (terrible handwriting), impeded my school aged learning and eroded my confidence.

So I decided this popular primary / elementary school task would make a perfect, and humbling edition to my first week's of steemit school.

Recognising the gaps I have regarding fundamentals of grammar and spelling have me thinking of Billy Madison in Miss Lippy's class.

If I have the energy later I will paint a blue duck myself and edit it in.

I decided for my grown up acrostic poem, to use only one other word per line, and construct a poem using each letter of my looooong name for each line.

😂 It was harder than I thought 😓😂

Here it is.

I imagine if a child handed in this piece there might be a few questions from the school councillor 😇😉

Greetings, @girlbeforemirror. Pleasantly surprised to have discovered you among my classmates at this intermediate level. I take the opportunity to thank you for visiting my previous post on the 9th. Your poetic form is pleasant and playful, in my opinion. In the form of a game you enter us, from your name. I loved it. Visit me whenever you like, you are always welcome in my blog.

You are incredible to write in two languages. I am struggling in my one and only language. I enjoy your introspective words very much . I find your themes very relatable too.

Well I loved to read the full form of your name, it would have been quite difficult and time consuming

Your concept is very nice. Thank you very much for giving us a nice article. It is I who am reading your article. And enjoying read it. Wish you good luck and going on you writing.Keep this up, Followed you for more :)

Wow! I did not know the abbreviation of your name, quite intersting with deep meaning. Bravo Wonderful poem @girlbeforemirror

I really like this, I imagine it would have taken some time, but great job in the end, it flows really well.

Everything takes some time for me, I am the steemit sloth. Not the magical one with the unicorn synergy, just the regular slow moving variety. :)

Why didn't the g stand for "Genius mind"
