Hello everyone welcome to my blog today
Today I would be showing you All you need to know about drones.

First of all would define what a drone is

DRONE : is simply known as an unmanned aerial vehicle.
What it means by unmanned is that no human pilot aboard. Instead it's driven by a ground-based controller ( remote controller).

Types of Drones and their uses

There are lots of drones and can't be numbered.

They could be categorized in sizes

  • very small drones /micro drones

These type of drones could be as small as the size of an insect, could be 50cm in length. That's why is called Nano or micro drones, and are usually used for conducting biological warfare or to spy on people.

  • Small drones

They are bigger than the micro drones, but are still small. They don't exceed 2meters in length and usually have fixed wings. They are known for being high powered. Do they are thrown into the air by hand from there they can glide easily in the air.

  • Medium drones
They are bigger than the small drones and smaller than light aircraft's but it's quite large . It can weigh up to 200kgs and need to be carried by two people.

  • Large Drones

These are those types of drones that are as large as a small aircraft. This drones main purpose is for the military to send them to areas of high risk in place of fighter jets. Also for surveillance duties can be carried out by this drone were powerful and advanced cameras can be attached to the drones body which can study the area from several hundred feet up in air.

They could be categorized due to range

  • very close range
You can find Toy drones under this category. These drones have a range limit of about 5km. They can stay in the air for 20 minutes or up to an hour.

  • Close range
These are drones which can be controlled from up to 50km away from the user and the controller. With a powerful battery it can stay in the air up to 6 hours. And most times the military makes use of this drone. allows them to stay in the air for up to 6 hours.

  • Short range
These are drones which can be controlled from 150km away from the user and the controller. They are known to be able to stay in air for up to 12 hours. Their best uses are spying and surveillance.

  • Mid range
These are drones which can be controlled from up to 650km away from the heart and the controller. The main use for this type of drones is surveillance. They also help in the collection of scientific data relating to weather and also in geology of a particular region.

Depending on the Type of Aerial Platform

  • Multi Rotor

These kinds of drones carry several motors on their bodies. They are able to stay in a stable position or spot in the air for a long time, so they are a popular choice for aerial photography and surveillance.

  • Fixed Wing

This are drones that have fixed wings. It's one of the major drones designs. It's construction style is that of aeroplanes. This drone can't stay in one place it glides on a path for as long as its energy source permits.

  • Single Rotor

In this type of drones a single rotor is used to fly the drone, and another smaller rotor near the tail which controls the direction
It is also known as an RC helicopter. They can fly high and stay in one position without spinning and it most times uses gas to power it self instead of electricity.

Depending on Abilities
  • Quadcopters
It's the most popular model of drones on the market, It uses four rotors positioned at each ends of a square on the drone body.
  • GPS Drones
These are drones which are linked to satellites via GPS. It's directions are determined by the satellite it was linked to. It makes use of battery.
  • RTF Drones

RTF - ready to fly drones.

They are easy to use. It's the best if you have never held a drone start with this option.

  • Trick Drones
It's Small and fast, trick drones are usually used as toys which can perform barrel rolls, flips and other flashy and amazing moves in the air.
  • Helicopter Drones
It's a single rotor drones. Which looks like an helicopter but with a remote controller.
  • Delivery Drones
These Drones are making waves in the industry. It's a popular choice with companies that need to make move to inventory and sales. The have an anchor or baskets attached to their body where goods could be fixed and transported.
  • Photography Drones
Theses drones have cameras attached to their body. They camera take HD quality shots and videos of the world in drones perspective. They are built to withstand bad weathers.
  • Racing Drones
They are fast and agile, these drones are not of any shape but free of excess weight. It can reach a speed of 60 miles per hour and are used in competition also champions by drone enthusiasts.
