Back to Basics with Brownie
This week's Splinterlands battle challenge theme is Brownie.
The battle I would like to highlight this week was between myself and @wiggod and can be found here
Rules were Back to Basics and Close Range
With a 21 mana cap
Back to Basics: Means monsters loose all abilities.
Close Range: Means Ranged attacks may be used in the first position in battles.
Summoner Selection:
I had the Earth Splinter for my daily quest so it was either Xander, Lyanna, or Wizard of Eastwood. Xander would not have benefited me other than providing 1 more mana point to utilize. Wizard of Eastwood would have provided me a -1 to armor but I was using mostly magic as my attack style so the -1 armor would not have helped me. I decided Lyanna would be the best choice because she gives all my monsters +1 health.
Monster Selection
1rst Position: I choose the Flesh Golem because he has 9 health to take a lot of damage and also 3 melee.
2nd position: I used Brownie in this position as a backup tank. I picked the magi of the forest and goblin sorcerer and khmer princess first and had 3 mana left over... I could have used the pixie for the magic attack but swampthing and
brownie had more health combined for the same 3 mana to protect the magic attacks behind them. Brownie has a melee attack so he went first.
3rd position: I Swamp Thing here because he has 5 health and 1 ranged attack. He will use his ranged attacks then become my 3rd tank.
4th Position:
I choose the Khmer Princess here because she has the lowest magic attack and 3 health so she will use her magic attack against my opponents tank and also take damage before my goblin sorcerer and magi.
5th Position:
I choose Goblin Sorcerer for this position because he has 2 magic attack which will cut into my opponents tank without hitting the armor first. He also has only 2 health so he needed to be protected so I put him near the rear.
6th Position
Magi of the Forest in the last position because he has 3 magic attack which will be my primary attacker during this battle. I put him in the rear to protect him as long as possible.
Conclusion:
My strategy worked very well for this battle, Brownie took damage from 3 of my opponents monsters during the 3rd round.
This strategy worked really well for me here is the end of the battle.
I don't use Brownie that often, occasionally as a fill in when I have 1 mana left. I would use him more often if he was level 4 and had inspire but I don't currently have summoners high enough to use him if he was at level 4.

The Brownie loves you... and for so little mana. Though I do get it, needing him to be a touch higher in level. Great post and explanations (as usual). Thanks for playing!
