Amigos Mexican Bistro (restaurant in Chiang Mai): Small shop, big flavor.
I am currently on a run to try out every single damn tex-mex or Mexican place that exists in this city of Chiang Mai and this is my 7th place that I have tried.
As I have stated before I always go to these places completely blind. I never read any reviews before I go in there and I always order something simple that everyone offers such as beef tacos.... which is precisely what I had here.
Amigos is so small that if you went there with 8 people at least one of the people in your group would need to stand. There is only one person working the entire setup of cooking and taking orders but thankfully this was not a factor for me as it was not busy when I arrived. The establishment is small and has a very small menu. You can order burritos, tacos, quesadillas, or nachos. Nothing else.
To be honest I don't think that a Mexican restaurant in Thailand really needs to have more options than this, especially if it is such a small establishment.
The person behind the counter was very friendly and my food arrived quickly. I was very impressed with the presentation and also the size of what i was delivered. It is important to note that what I ordered is exactly what i received because i never reveal that I can speak Thai in these places.
That is my two-taco set (beef.) It arrived in about 8 minutes and immediatly after taking pictures for this post I dug in and it was just fantastic: There was plenty of cheese, plenty of veg and the meat was hot and seasoned perfectly. The only problem I had with the food was that there wan't more of it because they were so tasty I could have easily eaten between two and seventeen more of them.
This place is expensive compared to Thai food but come on now! Mexico is a long way away. I had 2 tacos and a beer and it cost me around 200 Baht ($6.50 US).
This place might have the best tacos in Chiang Mai. I still have 8 more places to go try.

lol. jeez, how many of these things have i done in vain. I thought i was helping the platform but as it turns out they don't even have them. Here's a noob question for you. if i post inside their login will it still post to my profile here as well? I suppose I can just try it and find out. I don't want to rework one of my old ones and then spam the network with what will essentially be a repeat post.
Yes it will. I don't think there is an issue if you repost the ones you have done changing the words as all of us understand. I wouldn't call that spamming as you are doing them a favor at the same time.
yeah think i would need to completely revamp the wording, maybe change the pics a bit, i really wanted those to be on their platform. oh well. I'll do a trial one and see if anyone takes issue with it, if they do I'll stop :)
I like your mission. Maybe at the end of this, after 15 restaurants, you can rank them. Probably your plan.

Also you could repeat this project, and only try Nachos.

you actually are very on point with your "mission statement:... you see; i came from a town that had 1 tex-mex place and now i live in a place that has 15 tex-mex restaurants that I am aware of (there might be more).... the eventual endgame is in-fact to rank them all and also to hopefully provide #tasteem with info for their app that i sincerely hope they continue to work on.
Yes. It's a great idea. You have content, the readers have fun, you can enjoy your meals, the restaurants might benefit, and #tasteem gets info. Cool!
turns out I have been doing it wrong and tasteem hasn't even been getting the posts. From this point forward i will do it correctly. CRAP!
I guess spending around $6 on such tasty and quality food is of worth. even I am about to visit Chiang Mai next month, I surely will go to this place.
