Simon Amstell - Set Free (comedy special): I'm afraid i just don't find this guy funny

On occassion I delve back into the rather extensive stand-up comedy selections over at Netflix. I have seen quite a few of them and I've already watched all the major comedians so now I am starting to head into the lessor-known ones.

I had never heard of Simon Amstell and this was my first exposure to him. Sadly, I probably won't be looking for him in the future because I think I maybe smiled a few times but that's about all the reaction he got outta me.

Amstell has a progressive, i suppose intellectual approach to stand-up comedy and maybe I am just not smart enough to get it. He uses no props and relies almost entirely upon situational bits rather than something like one-liners. His lead in's take a really long time and for me, if a comedian takes 4 minutes to get to the punchline, it needs to be a bit funny. The audience was laughing, my living room was dead quiet... i suppose it is a "you had to be there" type experience.

Promotional trailers are supposed to elicit some sort of response from the viewers right? Perhaps entice us to want to see more but even this promo, which one would presume would be a highlight of the entire thing, is dreadfully not funny. I struggled to watch this special and if there are future ones I would say I am extremely unlikely to bother watching them at all.

his jokes didn't make me angry the way that someone line Amy Schumer does, but like the title says, I just don't think Simon is funny and don't understand how he got a comedy special.
