The Faint - Glass Danse

The Faint are another band that I've

loved since high school, and who have managed to change their sound over time and keep me listening. They were formed in 1995 in Omaha, NE, with Connor Oberst (Bright Eyes) as one of the original members. However, he left shortly after, and members Todd Fink (vocals/synth), his brother Clark Baechle (drums) and their high school buddies continued on. They have since had a number of line-up changes, though Fink and Baechle have remained the core of the group. Their sound also as changed, beginning as a mid-west emo band, then becoming a sort of dance-punk group, then a full on electronic band, back to a sort of punk/electronic thing, and on and on.

Listen to Glass Danse by The Faint here.

This song is from the band's

2001 album, Danse Macabre and was always one of my favorites. This album was the first fully electronic album; the one before it still featured guitars and bass, with a synth and dancey drums. This album was where I discovered the band, and was absolutely blown away. Although there is an '80s/synthpop sort of throwback in their sound, its not just that, and manages to feel modern and interesting in its own right. This song is super electronic dance-esque, and definitely caught my ear on first listen. It feels more influenced by '90s techno, and was the single for the album which was used in a few places, including some television shows.

Enjoy today's song! Thanks for checking out my blog, and Steem On!
