Robert Johnson - Come On In My Kitchen

Robert Johnson was a Blues guitarist

and singer, hailing from Mississippi, who has become a legend and a major influence on all of rock, blues and jazz post '40s. His life wasn't particularly well documented, so besides his recordings, there aren't very many hard facts about him that we can nail down. He was rumored to have sold his soul to the devil on the crossroads to gain his incredible guitar skills, though that became a sort of staple for a lot of Blues legends of that era.

Listen to Come On In My Kitchen by Robert Johnson here.

We do know from photos

and his recordings that Johnson's large hands enabled to achieve some incredible techniques on his instrument, which have come to define his sound. He traveled all over the south performing, and over time he found that he was able to handle both the bass and harmony parts with his guitar, which, when coupled with amazing vocal melodies, allowed him to be a one man Blues band. This sort of style has become common place over the years, but at the time was something that very few Blues performers had the chops for.
