How to join the ZCL Voluntary Miner Contribution Program even if you aren't a miner

in #zclassic7 years ago (edited)

EDIT #2: you should always be sure to get at least 24 h of mining time to ensure you get a good return. If you only mine for a short period of time (1 h) you will most likely not get very much.

By popular demand, we have decided to educate you on how to join the Voluntary Miner Contribution Program by becoming a miner through NiceHash which allows ANYONE to become a miner. EDIT #1: You can also use mining rig rentals which offers a simple tutorial for renting. Just use the connection information found at https://fund.zclassic.org in order to send the rigs at our pool.

It takes just 5-10 minutes to join, NO hardware setup, and as of today you can earn up to 5 btcp per ZCL mined, with a minimum 1.25 btcp per zcl mined! You can read here on how the auction system works in this program.

First, head to https://www.nicehash.com?refby=526542 and register an account. Once registered, login and on your account dashboard press "enable orders" as seen below.

Then press "buying" under account settings and select enable on the right side of the screen as seen below. You will be sent an email with a code that you can use to activate this portion of your account.

Next, you will need to deposit BTC into your account (0.005 BTC minimum) with the address you find on the dashboard. Once your BTC arrives, you can click go to marketplace under "your orders" on the dashboard. On this page, be sure to select "Equihash" algorithm. Then Press "standard" order under EU or US servers and select add new pool from the drop down list that just appeared.

In a separate tab, you can navigate to https://fund.zclassic.org to get the pool information. Once on the page, press "connection information" on the left side. Here, you will see the pool address along with the port number after. For legal reasons, we cannot give this information here as you will need to accept to the terms and conditions on the website before you can join the program.

Now you can enter the information onto NiceHash. We recommend using the ZClassic electrum wallet here as your wallet for this process. Plug your transparent (t) address into the “user field” replacing "your zcl wallet address.” Set BTC/MSol/s (higher the rate, better your chances of getting the hash), the limit in MSol/s (higher this is, the less time your hash power will last), and the total amount of BTC you would like to use for the hash power (higher this is, the longer your hash power will last). As a point of reference, based on httpss://whattomine.com, 1 MSol/s for 24 h will yield around 5 blocks (62.5 ZCL) as of Feb 1. Right now, the average price of ZCL is 0.0114 BTC, so at the going rate on NiceHash of 0.5647 BTC per MSol/s/day, you get approximately 20% more ZCL (and even more BTCP via our pool) than you would using an exchange!

Congratulations! You are now a miner! In the coming days we will put out a guide on how to build your very own mining rig as well.

fuck nicehash,

but I still love ZCL

Any other options we should cover?

I've never used it but https://www.miningrigrentals.com/ has been recommended to me

Is nicehash a bad decision? Did you mine with them? Thanks for your answer :)

They stole my money...yes bad decision

I'm speechless. This is awesome guys! Thanks for sharing :)

Would you mind explaining how you arrived at 62.5 ZCL? Surely this doesn't yield a 20% return on your investment within 24 hours?

At the time of publication, having 1 MSol/s for a day based on What To Mine yielded around 62.5 ZCL (it is currently more like 58 ZCL) and nicehash was about 0.5647 BTC/MSol/s/day, so if you mined for a day, it would cost 0.5647 BTC and would yield about 62.5 ZCL (now 58 ZCL). CoinMarketCap says ZCL is 0.01194290 BTC so if you did a pure exchange of 0.5647 BTC you would get 47.3 ZCL, and 58 ZCL/47.3 ZCL is 1.22 or 122% leading to the number of about 20% more ZCL obtained using nicehash than using an exchange.

I have tried both ports on NiceHash and both showed as dead... do they become active and also is there a failover to switch between pools in case one goes dead?

Any update on the latest for mining? I did a test run on nicehash but I have no idea how many coins I mined. I basically did what the article said to put in but I am curious how many coins I mined, anyway to figure this out bro, Kinda lost me with all those numbers haha I bugged nicehash about it and didnt really get a direct response as to how much I did
