"Town XII" - collage / acrylic on board
There are moments when I wish I could roll back the clock and take all the sadness away, but I have the feeling that if I did, the joy would be gone as well.
-- Nicholas Sparks, A Walk to Remember
I painted this in my last year at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. I used a collage technique to transfer photos into the painting. I took most of these shots of my friends, classmates and professors during the years of my study.

You always amaze me with something new... yet great! :-)
There is a lot to look/watch on this piece.
If my face was on it , it would make me very proud.
Thank you Agnes!
Amazing images....downloading for wallpaperj
Excellent! The combination of photos with the painting is amazing, especially in the parts that have depth - in perspective. Is it digital processing or physical?
Back then I wasn't able to do photo editing in a resolution high enough for this. So I mounted the photos on boxes I arranged in such a way that they fitted to the geometry of the architecture and I took a photo of all of it with an extreem wide angle lens. This photo then I used for the side walls.
Interesting. I know the piece. I thought you might have used solvent transfer. Acrylic gel medium transfer is also a option (I used that a few times):

I used cellulose thinner to transfer the xerox copies of the photos.
sort of a "extreme" form of solvent transfer. That's used for cleaning airbrush equipment, I guess.
That's what I used back then. It works but it's a mess.
