Ronaldo Not Confident Icardi Join Real Madrid

BRASIL - Former Real Madrid and Inter Milan star Ronaldo Luiz Nazario admits he is not sure whether Mauro Icardi will be interested in joining Real Madrid in the future.

The setbacks shown by Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema this season have sparked speculation that Madrid will spend its money to bring in qualified attackers before the 2018-2019 season.

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski continues to be linked with his move despite Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi also reportedly becoming their main target.

Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli, however, claims that Madrid will not be interested in bringing Icardi, as the 24-year-old has only scored one goal in his last five appearances in Serie A.

Similar to Ronaldo, he also thought that Icardi was happy to be at the San Siro and was not sure if he would agree to move to Madrid.

"I'm sure Icardi likes to be at Inter Milan as well as me. Even if I suffer a lot of injuries and my departure does not go like what I expect, "explained Ronaldo, as quoted from Soccerway, Friday (9/2/2018).

"But even though we do not know much about the transfer market, I think a lot of clubs are lining up to woo Icardi. Going to Madrid is every player's dream. I do not know if it's hers, "he continued.

In addition Ronaldo also spoke of Inter Milan who have not been able to win in eight Serie A matches and have fallen behind 15 points behind leaders Napoli.

"Looks like this will be our year. You can not keep asking everyone, from players to trainers, every year. You have to believe in a project and give it the time it takes to work. What Inter did in the first two months of the season is unlikely to be coincidental, "he concluded.
