Skiing in the Black valley.

in OCD5 years ago

Svart dalen, northern Norway 29.02.2020.

Svartdalen23.jpg

It was a cloudy day, with snow in the air, but no wind this Saturday. My wife and I decided to go skiing in a valley nearby. The valley is called Svartdalen in Norwegian or, the Black valley in english.

Svartdalen.jpg

After skiing around 3,5 km we are at the opening of Svartdalen. The valley is narrow with steep mountains and cliffs with a river in the bottom. In the summer there are lots of big rocks and stones as make it more difficult to walk. You have to climb over and around stones and cross the river several times inward the valley.

Svartdalen2.jpg

A short distance into the valley lies a little lake. In the winter with ice, the crossing is easy. the valley winds in many turns about 5 km inland.

Svartdalen3.jpg

Because the valley is so inaccessible there is little traffic and untouched nature. Here have wildlife peace from humans.

Svartdalen4.jpg

Svartdalen9.jpg

On cliffs in the mountainside grow pines and birch wherever they can.

Svartdalen8.jpg

It is a meager valley, it is not possible for the trees to grow large. Fairly small trees are many years old

The river is visible some places. (do you see the smily?)

As i said there was no wind and only around minus 4 degrees celsius. On todays trip we had brought with us some dry wood to make the first campfire this year. Coffe made on a campfire is something special. We made camp on the little cliff you can see in the middle of the pictrure to the right of the pines. Here we had a nice view over the valley.

Nero prepare some lumber to pieces.

Svartdalen12.jpg
In the bottom of the campfire we use rotten birch, above that, dry wood. Within few minutes the smell of fresh coffee is in the air. We also grilled a couple of sandwiches with cheese and ham. Delicious after a coupe of hours skiing.

Svartdalen13.jpg

This i perfect, feeling the heat from the fire, and a hot coffee while waiting for the sandwiches.

Svartdalen11.jpg

If you look closely you can se the flames and smoke make forms similar to part of Steem logo. The conclusion; even the flames burn in sympathy for Steem.

Svartdalen17.jpg

The campsite on the rock in the middle.

Svartdalen16.jpg

As always I have to take a look at the trees. These one I had to stand still for the photograph.

Svartdalen19.jpg

After some great hours by the campfire, it was time to go home again, with some new impressions and peace from the daily running.

Svartdalen18.jpg

The whole trip was like walking in a black and white movie. No colours only different shades of black and white. It was quite fascinating.

Svartdalen22.jpg

The black valley is left behind us. Im curious how it looks further up and behind the next turn. I think I need to explore it further another time. I'm always curious about what's hiding behind the next turn, if I am are out hiking or in life general.

Svartdalen21.jpg

This time we choosed to followed the same track back again. No one else but myself decide what or where to go. That is freedom, just as this platform should be. One person should not decide on our behalf.

Svartdalen20.jpg

Wish you all freedom in life...ok then... and on this platform under a decentralised real sun :-).

Best regards
Harald

The winter is still going strong at least 1 months here. Trees are fascinating aren't they? 😄

We haven't had much of a winter this year and I saw snow only a few times, apart from the times on the mountains. If it was white outside I would be happy, but it is all gray and not the way a winter should look like. This is why I'm longing for the spring.

Yes, I love trees and I always try to find such more or less lone and interesting looking trees, because photographing them is easier for me than shooting in a forest ;)
Your snow photos look pretty much monochrome and things like the fire or the orange and green tones of the trees add a very beautiful touch to the images.

Have a great day Harald 🙂

A !BEER has to be cold and a !COFFEEA has to be hot to taste good and not !DERANGED 😉
