What Did You Do To Lazy Susan?

I beat her at her own game, that’s what happened.

Ever since we moved into this house, I never cared for the lazy susan’s. The rims were coming off, they didn’t swivel nicely, and they weren’t very sturdy. They looked pretty makeshift quality. That, and I just think they take up more room than they provide.

So what was on my list of to-do’s but to take that lazy lady out! Now, before you go calling me crazy, you should know that my mother has already beat you to the punch, so don’t waste your breath(or give yourself arthritis typing).

How I removed my lazy susan

See what I mean?

First, I unscrewed this top do-hicky.

Then I was able to lift the contraption up and out to move it around the cupboard. There wasn’t a whole lot of wiggle room, but there was just enough. 048C6BCD-72CA-40E3-A5A1-0CECFB022C2B.jpeg

I had to loosen up the brackets holding the shelves in place and scoot them together. I then had to move the notch up top, to allow the thing to come out. It was like a giant puzzle. Thankfully, the public school system did not diminish my ability to problem solve!

And there we have it! Look at all that room we have! Now I can stick some five gallon buckets in there, a pressure cooker, or maybe even hide there during a tornado. (Ok maybe not that last one.)

Looking good as always Hank!

I’ll most likely remove the other corner one as well, but maybe I’ll save that for another day.

What a relief! Now you can actually store something there! @ironshield

Exactly! We have a few more 5 gallon buckets to get, and we were wondering where we were going to put them!

Haha...I loved this...

That's just how I would've described it! I'm glad you showed Susan who's boss! 😂

P.S. May I borrow your top pic for a post???

Thank you! Thankfully she didn’t put as much of a fight as I thought she might! Yes, you sure may!

Haha ok, thank you!

Thank you! I may have made it look a little easier in the post than in person. But it still wasn’t too bad.

Isnt it satisfying to tackle a project like that? Especially if it has been bugging you for a long time... ;)

Obviously Susan had to go! I think that would absolutely be a shelter for high winds! Ha! Loved that one.

Lol I seriously considered it, until I realized hiding next to an exterior wall is a no-no. Oh well, it still serves a good purpose!

I have such a love-hate relationship with lazy susans. They work if they work, otherwise, they are just a complete headache. I completely understand why you removed yours.

Glad to know I am not the only one :)

Good job getting that do-hicky out of there and wow look at all that space!

Hahah! I know there’s probably a technical term for whatever that is, but the words could not find me.

Technical enough for me, that is about what I would have called it!

You are too careful, LOL! If you did not intend to reuse it, a haxksaw will reduce it to firewood quickly. The top doohicky is a carrier bearing, on in this case junk. I AM very glad you did not let it stare you down! 90% of any job is being willing to tangle with it! I fight for storage for 5 gallon buckets myself, LOL!
