Trip to SEVILLA - Visit to the "Casa de Pilatos"
The "Casa de Pilatos" is a palace in Sevilla, which was declared national monument in 1931 and is the second largest residental area in Sevilla after the Alcazar.

Its construction was ordered and begun in the 1470s by the family Enriquez-Ribera, in a Sevilla which was Spanish but which still heavily relied on the heritage of the Muslims occupants of the city, to whom the house is kind of homage.

It has of course its own inside garden - an indispensable element in all moorish palaces - and the ceilings of some room are breathtaking.

I swear to god that the wood shutters of that window are the same ones which have been installed all those centuries ago. You can't do more vintage and moving than them! They are the work of a craftman who lived and toiled in the XVth century!

The palace was a work in progress almost its entire life... What started as a mudejar style, shifted towards a Renaissance palace in the 1530s... As you can see, there are a lot of Roman and Greek statues... You can see Athena as well as the busts of a lot of Roman emperors.

Originally, it was known as Palacio de la collacion de San Esteban, because it was close to the church of San Esteban. However, it became popularly known as "House of Pilates" because the first station of the Passion was set nearby, and since every year during Easter the religious processions started their march from this station, representing the Palace of Pontius Pilates when sentencing the Christ to crucifixion, the name of "House of Pilates" stuck to the noble palace. Below is the official entrance:

I was with the last group of the day (15 persons max) but i managed to take my photos almost without anyone in the frame :)
I love Sevilla. It's a very nice city. Not too big. Not too small. Great people.
My last trip there I had a little accident but I'll write about that soon. I have to find the photos first :)
Not too bad, i hope, the accident? Looking forward to reading about your trip there!
