A little walking date at Noblett Lake
A fungus of mushrooms
Ha! I just made up a group noun for mushrooms.
Anyway, my husband and I took a little walk at a nearby lake during Monday morning after the kids got off to school. We went to Noblett Lake, which is about 22 miles from our home. Here are some of the photos I took, the ones I'm not saving for Color Challenge days or didn't already post for Birdette and Tony. Here is their post: https://steemit.com/birdetteandtony/@hethur240/the-adventures-of-birdette-and-tony-exploring-noblett-lake
The dam that creates Noblett Lake
Pretty little butterflies I have yet to identify
Delicate ferns I have yet to identify
Maybe pokeweed
I really should go get my wildflower book, but I'm lazy this morning.
Thanks for looking! Stay tuned!
that place is so beautiful! always something new blooming!! great pictures @hethur240
It's never the same hike twice. Thanks, @tiredmama!

Those mushrooms are some species in the genus Armillaria (honey mushroom). Most likely A. mellea.
The key fearures that make me think it's an Armillaria are the way they're growing on the tree (parasitic), the scales on the stem and the texture of the cap.
Thank you so much, @fabulousfungi!!! I was expecting to see many more different kinds of mushrooms on this walk since it is next to a lake and typically a warm, moist environment. These were the only ones I found. Thanks again for the identification help!
It's pretty and It's all natural
Thank you, @view.yaa!
