Welcome back to the best celebrations in the world!

For the people that missed the first editions, travelers always like to be part of something new and unique. Traveling is all about exploring and meeting people as well as creating lasting memories.
Most people that travel don’t plan everything and go with the flow, they depend on other travelers on where to go or you can just make sure you read this post.

Within this topic of my blog I will take to the best celebrations in the world by month, so don’t confuse this post with my other series “the best travel destinations” this one will be more about celebrations hosted all around the world, so be sure not to miss out and enjoy!

Aalborg Carnival
Most countries celebrated Carnival already and for many people in the world this is an highlight of the year! so let me introduce to you the festival you can still visit, the Aalborg Carnival! For the people that just can’t wait a whole year to be part of it again, head over to Denmark and you will be just fine.
The Aalborg carnival adopts many festival aspects of Carnival but to them it’s more about celebration Spring after a long winter. The highlight of the festival is parade let by a carnival boat. Many people walk in front of that boat with brooms to sweep the winter away!
So again for the carnival lovers Aalborg is the place to be!

Bun Festival
We all know the world famous eating competitions in the USA, where the goals is eating as much as you can mostly hotdogs, but that is not what this festival is about. This festival is also not about my favorite sandwich shop in Amsterdam. For this festival we have to travel to Cheung Chau only 10 kilometers away from Hong Kong. This buns in the festival are attached to 20 meters high bamboo poles and the nuns are made of plastic. Many young men will climb the high poles and try to get as many buns as they can. So this is more active than the American way of hosting Bun festivals.
The festival lasts for a week and the climbing competition is the highlight of a week in which the locals don’t eat meat and preform ceremonial dances.

Olympic games
I love everything sports related! I really enjoy the winter and summer Olympics like we all know them. The Dutch are always setting the tone with speed skating and the whole country comes together and enjoy the performance. If you visit Chipping Campden you can be part of the Olympics yourself! Not the Olympic games the Greek invented but a weekend full of crazy events. Do you think you can be a star in; Piano smashing, shin-kicking or Morris dancing and many more crazy games then this are the Olympics for you!

Pie Trowing
For the next unique celebration in the world you can stay in England after you visited the Olympic games, just head over to Coxheath in Kent. The rules are simple two teams stand 2,5 meters apart there are 32 competing teams from all over the world and they all try to hit each other with as many pies in the face as they can. You score points with a hit and lose points for a miss, very simple! Sounds like a fun day right.
A custard pie in the face has become slapstick over the years as a protest staple or charity fund raiser. The events is designed just to have fun.

Enjoy your day everybody.
