The Less You Need Steem, The More Rewards You Get
The best approach to Steem is an attitude of working hard, but being ok if it doesn’t work out. To have a life plan where you could see huge rewards from your steem work without expecting it to pay out. Being open to it, but not expecting it or needing it.
Participating in Steem is a big bet on a risky endeavor. We all hope to build a protocol that changes the world and reaches mainstream adoption by around 2020, but what if it flops?
What if EOS eats Steem’s hat?
What if a corruption scandal is revealed that erodes trust in Steemit Inc or our prominent witnesses, too far to be recovered?
What if the economic system of Steem fails to find a sustainable mode? Vote bots, flag wars, these are all threats to Steem’s long-term.
I’m not afraid of any of these things. If Steem dies, or if it just turns too crappy, I’ll move on to another promising platform. That’s already why I cultivate so much of a presence on Instagram. My recent growth from 400 to 470 followers and counting over there is a great thing for my Steem abilities, because it makes me less needy from Steem.
Knowing that I can get attention, and potentially monetize on Instagram one day (admittedly trickier than on Steem but possible), makes me able to take more risks here.
I can be bold and speak the truth. I can make big moves that cost me 30% of my steem income in favor of what I believe is ethically correct.
It’s a mentally happier, more stable place to be. Become less needy and more Steem will be attracted to you, much like how the confident people attract more attention at a bar on a Saturday night.
The best way to become confident on a place like Steem, ironically, is to be happy and secure enough that you could leave if you wanted.

I commented on your previous post that it's important to find out what our role is, if we're here to post what we think or to make money. It's not as easy because the need of money may be on your top needs, but the ethical side of this is what makes you be happy with the job you're doing.
As said, nice thoughts!
The hard part is when the ethical side doesn't make you happier but you do it anyway. :-P
Heck yeah man. I feel the same way. Always putting in effort to maintain a precense on multiple platforms.
When I began just focusing on making content I enjoyed and sharing my own view on things, I began enjoying Steemit more and in turn it has helped me earn more. It is a long-term grind as is any social media work.
Keep making #goodcontent and #resteemed
You're so much better than me on Insta right now lol
An attitude of lack and scarcity leads to writing posts begging for money - that was never the way to go. I personally only write, when I really have to say something - which is not more than 1-2 times per week. Then my heart flows into it and it keeps the relationship with Steem fresh too. Sure, writing more often would earn me more money, but no need to get greedy - just keeping it authentic 🙏
Begging is super bad in the context of Steem! Good on you for keeping it authentic. I think a lot about the balance of frequency vs. quality...
Yes the law of attraction .. better to let go and have fun :P
I am new steem user.Your advice will help in my work.I really appreciate you.
