Steemit Twitter Numbers Going Back to October 2016.

The Steemit Twitter account has been growing steadily since October. For those that don't understand the importance of Twitter it is our gateway to the mainstream and crypto world. I used to wonder how Crypto Currencies like Ethereum and DogeCoin did so well. It was because they utilized marketing across social media to promote their tokens.

As a community we have something that none of the other Crypto Currency tokens have. We have a social media website that has many active writers. Some of these users write about Crypto Currencies and other topics that help us promote blockchain social media. This is an opportunity for us as a community to bring Steemit.com to the masses.

Twitter Numbers Over the Last 30 Days Explained.

Tweets-

On January 16th we had a discussion with the team decided that we would no longer use RSS feeds to Tweet out content. Now every piece of content is hand curated with the help of other users. We also ReTweet some Tweets from other users who Tweet Steemit content and mention @Steemit.

Due to hand curating all Tweets now, the amount of Tweets has dropped by approximately 50%. We have chosen to go with quality over quantity.

Tweet Impressions-

This number is partially based on two weeks of RSS feed Tweets. Our impressions will drop in February due to fewer Tweets. So far the Tweet impressions have dropped about 40% since changing over to hand curation.

Profile Visits-

This means the amount of people who click on the profile for the Steemit Twitter account. This is great news as people are showing interest in what we are doing.

Mentions-

This month we and the team have begun an initiative to get the Steemit.com community to utilize social media channels to promote their content. Twitter is a top priority! This is probably the big reason why the mentions are up 50% this month.

Followers-

Every day we follow 100-120 new people. If those users do not follow @Steemit back within a few days we will then unfollow them. We have been utilizing this technique since September while averaging 1,000 new followers per month.

Thanks for the analysis! Twitter is indeed a key gate, did not know you are handling that account, go @hilarski

Those numbers are super interesting!

Important work being done right here, take notice. Appreciate it!

I can see you are a numbers person
Great job!

I like to win Arthur and numbers play a role. If the community could just see how amazing these numbers were I believe they would get behind the social media promotion 100%.

No argument from me hilarski

completely agree Randy, BTW, its Dave Matherly. I was with you on FB in the Silverbugs and Why Buy Gold pages, we were on each others friends list. I quite FB.
I'm so very glad to see you here on Steemit!!!!
I wrote to you years ago about relocating outside the US after my parents were no longer on this plane of existence, well.... time passes, people leave...
I've been thinking about it lately.

So cool!! I am glad to see that you are here. This is fertile ground for the SIlverBug community. If it wasn't for precious metals I would probably still be working a job.

I'm still working. :)
Wondering if my services (visuals, effects, animation, editing) would be profitable in Panama. Jim Willie says I'd have slim competition in Costa Rica.
Seriously considering moving.

I do business all over the world, can you believe we have zero Panama clients? Our prices are lower because our overhead is almost nonexistent.

Great that you're working on this. It benefits us all!

@kus-knee (The Old Dog)

RS this post.

Have a nice week buddy!!!

Thank you Barry!

Great news, and thank you for the explanation. Your right about using Twitter does help on quality posts. That was a great decision. I had noticed that and finally glad you explained it.

One of the reasons was because people were trying to spam us by using the category tags. I also believe in having large images and the dev team is still sticking to using small Twitter images. For some reason my words have gone unheard.

We'll have large twitter card images in the next release.

Awesome, thank you so much!

Understandable, I hope they get it all worked out, I tend to like the images more than just the text links!

I noticed tweets from the Steemit account all get a lot of immediate retweets. What kind of tactic or service is being employed to get those? Do those immediate retweets drive other engagement?

By the way, thanks for sharing the numbers, it's great to see this kind of growth! Also, I'm happy to be a part of the team.

Yes, we have a team. Yes, they drive tons of engagement because we properly use hashtags. This also causes every post that is Tweeted to immediately be indexed on Google.

Great to hear that the team is pushing quality over quantity! Thanks for all the hard work on this. Looking forward to watching those numbers continue to grow!

I believe they will, especially if the community compliments what I am doing .

Can you put out a post on a more methodical way for us to use our networks to promote?

Sure, that would be a great post.
