What Exactly is Autism? & How children Get it??
Causes Of Autism- Credits
Autism is a Neurodevelopmental disorder of childhood affecting social interaction and communication skills of a child.
Autism is a multifactorial disorder. It is due to combination of genetic, environmental and Antenatal factors.
- Genetics- More than 100 of genes are linked, 10% of the autistic childs have genetic disorders like Down's Syndrome and Fragile X syndrome. More chance that children of autistic parents have autistic babies.
- Environmental- Toxins. Mercury is closely related .
- Antenatal and perinatal- Mothers health at the time of pregnancy - Maternal illness, Premature labour, low birth weight babies, other complication during delivery are associated autism but these alone cant cause autism, there must be some genetic component.
Previously it was thought that some vaccines like Measles, Mumps and Rubella vaccine are associated with it. But recently WHO has clearly stated that there is no link between autism and these vaccines, previous results were just due to methodological errors.
How to know If a child Has Autism???
- In Early childhood they can not be differentiated from other children, the first symptom may be failure to use body gestures,i.e. the autistic child can not point to the things he likes to have(normal child can do this at 15 months of age), he can not make non verbal communication.
- Can Not make eye contact with others, even with their parents.
- Restricted Behaviour They are confined to themselves, they dont like to go out, They repeat same activity every day like a ritual. They have narrow range of interests, they dont like to make friends. Becomes irritated easily.
- language problem cant speak till 18 year of age. uses same words repeatedly and can not start conversation with others.
- Repetitive and sterotyped behaviour -They need routines, like to do same things every day, they dont like change. They do sterotyped activities like Rocking , finger flapping.
- Most of the children are weak in studies.
Is there any cure??
The straight answer is "No"...No cure has been found for this disorder till date. Children with this disorder are treated by
- Behavioural therapy,
- Psychotherapy
- Speech and language theapy
- Motor skill and other social interaction trainings,
The most important thing in the treatment is support form their parents and the community. These children are more commonly affected by social discrimination, human rights deprivation and are seen as social burden, this should seriously reviewed in every society. They should be given given proportionate oppurtunities in every social and functions, & should be treated as normal people.

Autism disorder is rising, and there is not enough educators and support personal to help people with autism.
yeah..thats the point..community support is a must in autism
What has also improved with autism concerns its detection. Our means are 100 times better than what they were a couple of decades ago. So that autistic people can be helped way earlier, which helps them a lot for the minor cases at least.
By the way, do you mind adding a few references to get more information at the end of the posts? This may be useful for the reader ^^
yes early detection and the behavoural treatment are best methods of t/t in autism.
I have already added the credits they might have been masked due to the large picture,
my mistake... I beg your pardon 1000 times :D
not at all..I should have mentioned name of the sources instead of numbers so it would be easy to see..
Nice post bro i hav upvote and resteem
Thank you very much! @bastola.kabir
Autism is a spectrum, most of this is only true for those who are "high up" on the spectrum. Asperger's syndrome for example has no affect on learning, but it does change the social side of things. There is evidence supporting that Albert Einstein and Isaac newton had aspergers.
Yes You are right, I have described only about symtomatic autism lying up in the severity. According to the DSM-5, asperger's syndrome is also included in ASD. where the language and intelligence are normal.

There has been a lot of positive results treating Autism coming out of neuralfeedback therapy. Children on the spectrum who are set up with a device to turn EEG patterns into signals that can be used to control avatars in a game have over time shown marked improvement in speech, social interaction, and general state of well being. This is a form of cognitive therapy that is thought to enable the child to have a frame of reference or a feedback loop for their mental state that would otherwise be unavailable to them providing them the ability to become aware of it and learn to control it.
