Marine inhabitants
The oceans and seas are home to many exotic and amazing creatures, large and small. Marine life has adapted to life underwater, extracting oxygen from the water column and getting nutrients from it.
For example, gray whales live in the water column. Whales are animals, but they live in the water column. To replenish their air reserves, they need to regularly surface, and often every three to five minutes to stay in the water for 15 minutes. Whales store valuable fat by feeding on crustaceans. The body of giant whales is covered with white spots. These are traces of skin parasites - mussels.
In summer, whales sail to the far north to feed. They play silly games in the water: they lie on their backs, raise large fountains and dive picturesquely. Whales are friendly. They protect each other, try to protect the female and the cub. Some females even help to give birth. And it's amazing. Humpback whales hunt mussels together. They blow bubbles to lure crustaceans into their nets.
A small crested sea cucumber crawls along the seabed. The scientific name is holothuria; sea cucumbers feed on all kinds of food waste and crumbs. Thus, the sea cucumber "cleans" the seabed. As a result, clean sand remains. Sea cucumbers are also impressive in that they are able to regenerate even with the loss of organs. For example, if someone eats it. Some sea cucumbers have a very bright color, while others have adapted to breathe through the entire skin. In general, the "hydraulics" of the sea cucumber is amazing, it moves thanks to an unusual water injection system.
The tenacious sea cucumber has some amazing ways to escape from predators. For example, it releases a long sticky thread that drives away predators. The predator either gets entangled in the thread, or the thread hardens and irritates the predator. The way in which cucumbers throw out all their internal organs is also amazing. After a few weeks, the intestines reappear. It's like a miracle at the bottom of the sea.
