The beauty of lilac
One of the most popular spring traditions is the flowering of lilacs. During the flowering of this shrub, gardens and front gardens acquire a special, festive atmosphere. The flowers are lush, with purple, white and bluish shades. This unpretentious plant is loved by gardeners and summer residents for its beautiful flowers and delicate aroma.
Lilac is a shrub from the olive family. Some believe that its name comes from ancient Greek mythology. Naiads (Naiads - gods of Greek mythology) in ancient Greek mythology were called syringa.
In Europe, lilac appeared in the XVI century. Lilac grows so fast - up to 30 cm per year, that in a short time most European gardens and parks turn into lilac thickets.
Breeders have bred dozens of species of lilac, but common lilac is the most common - a perennial multi-stemmed shrub with shoots reaching 8 m in height.
Lilac is used mainly for decorative purposes, but it can bring both practical and aesthetic pleasure. Lilac grows rapidly and is used to protect slopes from landslides. Although lilac flowers are poisonous, they are used in medicine as a diaphoretic, antimalarial and analgesic.
Lilac inspired many creators with its beauty. Artists such as Tissot, Levitan, Mashkov, Konchalovsky painted lilac on canvas. Vera Akhmadulina, Arseny Tarkovsky, Andrei Voznesensky, Boris Pasternak and others wrote poems about lilacs.
And today lilac is loved by those who appreciate the beauty of nature.
