I'm good either way

I’ve always been of an opinion that people should be well-balanced, that we should be able to walk the line, not leaning too much one way or another. I don’t want to be a person who’s easily describable. I don’t want to be predictable, I don’t...well, I don’t want many things.

But what I’m talking about here is the ability to exist in two very separate worlds. I want to be the sort of person who’s at ease both at McDonalds and at the Ritz. Well no, actually, I don’t give a shit about going to the Ritz. But I don’t want to be the sort of person who can only dine in a certain sort of place. I don’t want to only go to X-star hotels. Because it seems to me that one should always be able to do both. I want, and I’ve succeeded thus far to be as comfortable drinking beer on a bench as I am drinking expensive wine at a posh restaurant.
Because if you’re just the sort of person who can do one of these, then you’re missing out on a lot of fun and a lot of experiences and that’s rather sad.

Same with music. Many people see me as a rock chick and that’s pretty much it. I’m not, I love listening to all sorts of music, from jazzy to heavy metal to classical to rap to opera. Again, I think you’re missing out if you only go for one genre.
‘Oh, I don’t listen to X band, they’re not my type.’

How boring to have just one type. I’d much rather have half a dozen types. That’s just how I am, greedy.

You know, you meet all sorts of people through life and it’s weird not to make friends with them all. ‘Cause folks tend to be rather narrow-minded, their friends must all be of a similar social background, age and sex. Don’t they see that this only exposes you to one point of view? And chances are it’s very similar to your own. You’ll never grow if you have just one type.

People don’t change, they listen to the same music they liked as teens, even though lots of good things have come out since. People are happy to isolate themselves in stereotypes. Oh, I’m a scary rocker dude, liking cheesy pop songs is for pussies.

Why? I like (some) cheesy pop songs. Doesn’t make me more or less cool, I refuse to view it that way.
Most folks you meet only shop at certain stores, only listen to certain artists, only hang out with certain people, and only live a very simple, narrow life.
I hate that, it’s a very stupid way to live life.

You should be comfortable both in a limo and on a bus.

You should be happy bringing your own wrapped-up sandwich and ordering expensive take-out.

You should be okay both with famous brands and with no-names.

If you’re not, then that’s not balanced. I don’t want to be one of those people who entirely shuns anything half-posh and refuses to go certain places/see certain things etc. because they’re for stuck-up people. Likewise, I refuse to be one of those people who can only own big-brand products and wear expensive shoes.

Balanced, well-rounded, worldly...No matter how it's described it's a good way to be. People these days tend to lean towards whatever is in fashion or on-trend. Some prefer to be more multi-faceted. It's a choice. An important one I think. I'm pleased with the choice I made (make) and hope you are too. 😉

If I say “I never listen to PSD!!!” does that make me narrow minded😂 ?!

I would say it depends whom you do listen to :)
