The seeds benefit us by improving digestion, are a friend for the brain, aid the cardiovascular system. On the other hand, the sunflower oil prevents heart diseases and does good work for the skin being used in cosmetic products.
The juice extracted from the stems has medicinal purposes being used to treat wounds while an infusion aids in kidney diseases and chest pains.
Sunflower Symbolism
The sunflower is considered by many a symbol of power due to its adaptability to any environment, being easily grown. The sunflowers are tolerant to hot summers, draught and heat. Its constant search for the sun sends feelings of positivity and strength. A tall sunflower can reach up to 3 meters in height. Offering a sunflower to a friend sends feelings of admiration and love. Its name is inspired by the sun due to their resemblance. Its scientific name is composed of two Greek words meaning sun and flower, Helianthus. In the Greek mythology, the sunflower is associated with a nymph that turns into the flower after she loses her love.
In China the sunflower is offered and use for good luck and lasting happiness.
Sunflower Colors
The sunflower is a combination of shades of yellow, white, orange, brown, colors inducing the feeling of warmth. Yellow is also the color of happiness and friendship while brown militates for loyalty and support. The pigments in the sunflower can be used to produce a pale-yellow dye.
On an intellectual level, the sunflower’s yellow color is a symbol of intelligence.
