AVOID FREE THINGS, LEARN HOW TO PAY THE PRICE: Everything that has worth is worth paying for.

As man evolve, life keeps presenting him with hurdles he needs to overcome or surpass. To scale these hurdles, he needs to put some little efforts, maybe offer his labour, intellectual property or pay his way through these life barricades, you can call it vicissitudes of life if you so desire. Nature have found a way of making these hurdles part of existence, an inevitable experience to humanity.

Could it have been better if Nature allowed man to have anything he wanted free of charge, Or is there any value or need for man to exchange something little for Nature's goodies...

Wait a bit, what do people really mean when they say something is FREE OF CHARGE ?

Nothing really different from what we all know. A wise old man once said that when something is given free of charge , the recipient or beneficiary of such god-like benevolence is not expected to give/pay anything for it(or furnish any consideration, e.i. in legal terms), either in cash or in kind.

As humans, sometimes nothing is more appealing and mind-blowing like that which we will lose nothing to get. Harvesting rewards we don't know how they were cultivated, who cares.... We are losing nothing after all, so let them pay for all of us.

Learn To Pay The Price, Free Things Come With More Expensive & Invisible Price Tags.

Free things as good as it seems, have hidden disadvantages and effects which many are not conscious of.

Robert Greene, One of my best writers, in his Book 48 Laws Of Power, Stated the need to avoid Free things.

In LAW 40: He States,
"Despise The Free Lunch: What is offered for free is dangerous—it usually involves either a trick or a hidden obligation. What has worth is worth paying for. By paying your own way you stay clear of gratitude, guilt, and deceit. It is also often wise to pay the full price, there are no cutting corners with excellence. Be lavish with your money and keep it circulating, for generosity is a sign and a magnet for power."

When people Continue to foot your bills, sooner you will notice that they will start dictating your posture and shape of existence(for example Parent & children relationship). The benefactor with time starts exerting control over your self autonomy.

The funny part of it is that you will find it cumbersome to say "NO" to their requests most at times, because their gifts has a way of making you feel indebted to them. This is one of the effects of freebees.

There is also a scenario in the bible where this perception that anything that has worth is worth paying for was illustrated.

In the book of 2 Samuel 24:21-25 New International Version (NIV)

21- Araunah said, “Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” “To buy your threshing floor,” David answered, “so I can build an altar to the Lord, that the plague on the people may be stopped.”

22- Araunah said to David, “Let my lord the king take whatever he wishes and offer it up. Here are oxen for the burnt offering, and here are threshing sledges and ox yokes for the wood.

23- Your Majesty, Araunah gives all this to the king.” Araunah also said to him, “May the Lord your God accept you.”

24- But the king replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on paying you for it. I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.”

The above passage in the bible illustrates how David understood the importance of paying a price for something valuable. He knew that things that are given FREE OF CHARGE had hidden effects, maybe he wouldn't have been so blessed the way he was blessed if he hadn't paid for the Price, Aruanah would have taken all the blessings, David saw this and averted it.
