Carrying out a divorce in Nigeria
In Nigerian family law, one can only divorce his/her spouse after two years of marriage, this is to preserve the institution of marriage.
In law every general rule however, has an exception. So this two year rule can be broken if one of the partners was legally wedded to someone else as at the time of marriage or where consent to marry was obtained by fraud. Or when the partners are within the prohibited degrees of consanguinity and affinity(incestual relations).
There are other exceptions but that's all for now. * item
