General lines to avoid bad surprises, some examples
First of all, remember that it is always necessary to mention the source from which information is taken, regardless of the subject. Citing the source, besides being obligatory and respectful towards those who worked to create it, will give more value to your posts because there is a real study as a support at the base of what you write.
What do you usually do on steemit?
The author searches the web for an interesting article, reports the news with his opinions or in his own way on his blog..
Now there is nothing wrong with that, but try to remember the times you went to school, when your teacher made you write a short essay, he gave you the sources and you, based on these, wrote the article.
Well this would be the best way to create content within the platform.
But why is it so important to mention the sources in your post?
Many people think that the inclusion of sources within the text is synonymous with weakness.
But it is not at all like that and now I explain why.
To not include the sources, is a crime punishable by law, both from a civil and penal point of view
Inserting correctly the sources into your article will help in more ways:
It will support the thesis you are carrying out, mentioning people who know more than you will make a significant contribution to the interior of your article.
It will give the reader the opportunity to learn more about the subject.
It will allow you to compare ideas and opinions of different authors thus enriching the search for ideas, in this way you will be able to strengthen your texts and expand the debate.
But how many ways are there to quote a source?
Usually the adopted system is APA style
In the text the author’s surnames and year of publication are reported in brackets in the order that appears in the publication. In case of textual quotation, that is texts fragments from other authors inserted in your publication and faithfully reproduced from original source, in addition to the surnames and year of publication, the pages from which the quote was taken must also be indicated.
In the bibliography the sources must be sorted alphabetically by author surname (and subordinately by name); in the event that the cited document is devoid of an author, the first word of the title will be taken in consideration for alphabetical list. If your work refers to more publications than same author, you will have to mention them in chronological order, from the most recent to the least recent. Is not necessary to number the citations
some examples:
But right now I'd like to focus on steemit..
On steemit it is not necessary to follow a specific line, but it is necessary however to cite the sources.. and how can we inserts it into the text? it's very simple!
You can form a phrase by entering the source in this way ( [es](link about source) ) or even more simply inserting the link at the end of the article..
It's simple right? Anyone can do it
Another thing to keep in mind when mentioning the sources, is with what permission they have been shared
In fact there are many types of licenses, usable or not, now we are going to discover them.

Licensing types
The following describes each of the six main licenses offered when you choose to publish your work with a Creative Commons license. We have listed them starting with the most accommodating license type you can choose and ending with the most restrictive license type you can choose.
License Conditions
Creators choose a set of conditions they wish to apply to their work.
Attribution Attribution (by)
All CC licenses require that others who use your work in any way must give you credit the way you request, but not in a way that suggests you endorse them or their use. If they want to use your work without giving you credit or for endorsement purposes, they must get your permission first.
ShareAlike ShareAlike (sa)
You let others copy, distribute, display, perform, and modify your work, as long as they distribute any modified work on the same terms. If they want to distribute modified works under other terms, they must get your permission first.
NonCommercial NonCommercial (nc)
You let others copy, distribute, display, perform, and (unless you have chosen NoDerivatives) modify and use your work for any purpose other than commercially unless they get your permission first.
NoDerivatives NoDerivatives (nd)
You let others copy, distribute, display and perform only original copies of your work. If they want to modify your work, they must get your permission first.
As you can see the original author of the text has many possibilities for sharing his work, so it is important that you carefully choose the type of source you are going to quote.
There are cases where we need to report exactly as written on the reference site, and if you need to do copy/paste, use this > and you can copy/past all... (but you will still have to mention the source)
I want to share with you a fantastic tool, which will help you in finding copyright free sources
https://search.creativecommons.org/
In the end, here on steemit all the content you post are getting paid, so you need to be careful on sharing content such as a music youtube video, copyrighted material, and all those sensitive content materials.
In this example you can see how to remove payment from your content
