Weekly Contest - Best Diary Game | Capturing a Cultural Activity in my state.
Dear Diary,
How was your day? Trust it was good. It's a Saturday morning and I finally had to rest from preparing early to get to the 8am class. It was really a busy week for me in school because I had back to back lectures filled with lots of assignments.
In my state we currently have a Christmas unplugged event happening at our Christmas village which holds lots of activities. Different local government Areas were assigned to different days to perform their cultural activities, I was very determined to go there today because I had a less busy day.
I did my chores as usual and cleaned up the environment, I had to take a quick break and turn on my mobile data, this few days you don't need to turn off your data due to updates that will be flying around. I fiddled with my phone and also checked my notifications and posts on steemit.
The day was just running fast, I took a quick breakfast and took my bath. I was tired already, could it be the chores or the food?. We had a very stressful week and I had to rest during the weekend but it seems we don't even have time to rest. I did set my alarm at 1pm as I took a little nap.
The weather was so hot, but I couldn't help thank to still go for the event, I just woke up at first beep of my alarm just because my mind was on it. I wore my clothes, took my phone and left to the venue. It won't take 30 mins and I'll be there because the road network is so good.
I finally arrived at the cultural event center, everywhere looks filled up with people in their different cultural attires. There are lots of cultural displays, I heard! I think the fun was just getting started as I walked in through the entrance. I really wished I had a hand held camera as I would have captured many moments, but no regrets as I have my mobile phone handy, it was even much better when entering prohibited areas, you could take a picture without them being aware.
I missed the Christmas unplugged festivals 1.0 but my brother was able to capture some moments there, it was also fun filled with many cultural display. All this is fun due to the passion people have to display their culture, it's not like they're paid to display but they're just happy and have passion for their culture.
Each local government in my state are richly blessed with many natural resources and they also have creative skills. They showed their skills here, Etinan local government which are performing today came with their cultural displays, they're blessed with rich lands which could take many plantations and also yield good produce
Here is a display of a rich cultivation of cassava which is used to produce these cassava granules (Garri). I forgot to mention , they have very hardworking people too, it was just all smiles. I loved the hardwork being put in, they could make a bag of garri there due to swiftness and how skillful they are. If you've been into the production of Garri, a traditional food product in Nigeria you would know how stressful it is to produce it in the local way, one of the main problems I have is the smoke that comes from the firewood.
They're blessed with palm fruits, trees and all. Palm wine is very common here. The man in the picture is mimicking a Palm wine tapper in their village who uses his bicycle to tour round to the village to get Palm wine. One the bicycle you could see a strong rope which is used as a means of support to climb the tree, which would have been so difficult to try cutting while you're grabbing the tree. Also we can see a calabash which is used to store the fresh wine from the tree tap.
I was very astonished by how well he was riding his bicycle, it just speaks experience.
While I was taking pictures and video of the cultural man, the real Palm wine tapper appeared to the scene, he was with his hat and full attire which mimicked a Palm wine tapper, I heard that they are rich from this profession, because they're always lots of demand of this product in the country.
fuf's and Afang | Food display |

It was time for the food display, seems I came in early , the food was covered at first and i found my way close the front. Different TV channels came with their camera and mic to interview and ask about their dishes, she was very focused on this as she answered and also showed them the different dishes they had, I wanted to taste this due the attractive the food has.
I moved to where The cultural drummers are and luckily, The cultural drummers are here and they did their work perfectly well, I was just enjoying the rhythm and the sounds. The tongs and drums went so loud that I thought there was a mic there, it even overwhelmed the sound played there.
I really enjoyed the passion and happiness that showed in their faces, it was just all smiles as they met with their people. It was getting late so I had to leave, I had a football match to watch which was to start by 6:30, a match between Manchester United and Nottingham forest, it's going to be a tough match.
I just streamed the match online which I watched a little and didn't feel like again, due to the disturbances network was giving. I left and took a bus home. It was a fun filled and tired day but it was worth it. I was with my phone throughout and I ate my food and had to rest from this long day.
I would love to invite my friends @us-andrew @faran-nabeel and @davidmarkgeorge to join

This is very interesting and describes a colorful daily life. I can feel the happiness and energy of meeting loved ones, as well as the excitement of welcoming a football match. Although there was a network disruption while watching, the experience still left a lasting impression. It's great to read how the balance between shared moments, entertainment, and rest time became part of this precious day. Thank you for sharing!
It was really a precious day, and you could tell from the photos the happiness and energy of meeting people.
