Pick a Word, Paint a Story #08

Greetings my dear friends of Steemit and Hindwhale Community

Can anyone tell me if there is any possibility of my visit to the Valley of flowers.

Still I wonder how I could manage to visit the Valley of flowers at the time of exploring Hemkund Sahib.

Could we plan before the day of visit so that we could start two hours ahead and reach Ghangaria. We just suddenly decided to go to Hemkund Sahib. We could not meet my mother at the Guest house at Badrinath. I informed another boarder about our departure. There was no bus. Last bus left an hour ago. We saw a private car standing in front of the level crossing gate and negotiating with the guard for allowing him to go. We managed to go with him to Gobindghat where we had food in gurdwara.

We planned to go to the valley on the same day. We reached Ghangaria walking fifteen kilometres non stop at about 3:00 PM. We continued to walk towards the valley. We stopped by a group of army personnel who were coming from the opposite direction. I agreed to them and returned to Ghangaria with them.

The next day early morning we started for Hemkund Sahib. It was a back binding steepness we had to climb at an altitude of 4572 meters. About 5165 ft altitude is gained between 2.1 km. Unfortunately you can't find a single flower in this route. There was a thin layer of snow. Our feet were skidding. We managed to reach first on the day. The place was completely desolate. One elderly person was taking a bath. I was motivated to have a dip in the icebracking chilled water. I couldn't stand up after the dip. I felt in the lake again. After the bath I remained quiet for some time. We entered the gurudwara at the highest altitude of the world. I felt normal after taking a special masala tea.

We returned to Ghangaria at about 11AM. We had a quick lunch. We don't dare to go to the valley as we would miss the last bus for Badrinath from Gobindghat. We reached Gobindghat at about 3 PM. We had to wait for the bus for about an hour. We reached Badrinath at 5PM.

It was the end of September. We had a train ticket for the return journey. My mother was staying alone at the guest house whom we had to pickup. We missed the valley of flowers from a handshake distance.

I had been to the Himalayas a few more times and I had seen many rarest of rare flowers like rahderandon, Brahma Kamal and Lingholm but I still repent for missing visit to the valley of flowers.

Before I conclude I would like to invite three fellow Steemians to participate in the contest

So far, I read about trees, but you differ from them and painted on flowers. I also repented as you couldn't visit the valley of flowers from a handshake distance. You missed the good chance; never mind, try it some other day. Thank you for participating in the contest.

¡Holaaa amigo!🤗

Thank you for the profound and thoughtful comment. Now it is still a vividly memory of the more than 40 years old episode.
